I also have the Logitech Wingman Force 3D

For some monthes it worked fine until I noticed some erratics move in vertical axis (rudder). Colibration, null zone and sensitivity adjustment did
not help.

I think it is a mechanical weakness in the captor because I see the same erratic moves of the needle in calibration mode. So may be this joystick is
simply not that good ?

The Saitek x52 looks very strong but don't provide force feed back.

I disagree. I had a X52 for a while, and although it looked nice, I like the X45 A LOT more. It's a more durable and tough joystick IMHO. It
also feels a lot better (my personal preference I guess).

Personally, I just use the cheap and reliable Microsoft Sidewinder ($30 from CompUSA; nothing special) and I've had no problems
whatsoever.

Fair enough Brad but I had the X45 for a long time and I found the X52 to be such an improvement over the X45 that I had to post in here
but I don't wanna play " my joystick is better than yours" though, it is a matter of opinion and what you are used too

x52 LOOK better imo, but not sure which to go for, if the x52 is worth the extra money etc

Have now got Saitek X45. Have done a couple of short flights and it was brilliant. Am really happy so far, have set it up for basic
requirements at the moment but will get down to the finer settings of it later. Just want to get airborne again, it seems ages since I
managed a GOOD flight with FS Passengers. It was impossible with my old joystick. Thanks for all the advice, will now have to wait and
see how things go with it, but it sure looks and feels good. Cheers, kingfisher-blue

I'm coming in pretty late to the conversation, but here's my two bits regardless. I'd tried the x45 and just plain didn't like it, although a lot of
people do. I guess my hands just couldn't get comfortable on the throttle. I took it back. I ended up getting a Suncom Talon/SFS setup from eBay.
They're pretty old now, but the combo works great. The buttons area all keyboard emulated, and the throttle is great because it's split. So you can
assign it to mixture/throttle, or dual throttle control. It runs through the gamport, but I just got a gamport/USB convertor from Radio Shack and it
recognized everything as one joystick with 4 axis, a slider, and a z rotation. Perfect. Then I just programmed the buttons to keypress's and I was
off. The throttle and the joystick each store 4 program sets, and have a multitude of buttons.
