Joysticks - kingfisher-blue - 21-10-2005

Can someone please give me some advice with regards to which joystick they would recomend. I have at present a Logitech Wingman
Force 3D but am having great difficulty with the calibration. Have even purchased FSUIPC to try to improve it but it does not seem to make
all that much difference. The main problem is after take off, the slightest movement and the plane leaps up in the air, I have virtually to
hold my breath. Have set the null zone to max and sensitivity to zero but it just doesn`t seem to make any difference. I was always under
the impression that Logitech were a good joystick but at the moment am very unhappy with it, can someone recomend a good joystick or
supply some advice as to where I am going wrong with this one. Have tried all setting with FSUIPC and with the calibration side but after
a week of trying am simply sick of the sight of it. Any help would be greatly appreciated, Many thanks, John

Re: Joysticks - SWAFO - 21-10-2005

I'm currently using the Saitek X45 HOTAS system. One of the less expensive HOTAS setups, and everything works great! Highly
recommended!

Re: Joysticks - Pierino - 21-10-2005

I'm using the Logitech Wingman Force 3D without any problems.

These are my sensitivity settings (advanced):

Ailerons: about 15% (4 ticks), Null zone 55%
Elevator: almost fully left, just one tick right, Null zone 45%
Rudder: 15% again, Null zone 55%
Throttle: 90%, Null zone 0%

I suppose your joystick is properly calibrated and that you have NOT connected any kind of second gamecontroller. I had big problems when I had
connected a Logitech gampepad at the same time.

I can't imagine that your wingman doesn't work properly in FS when it works fine with other games.

Hope this helps

Pierino

Re: Joysticks - SWAFO - 21-10-2005

I have the Saitek X45 set to all the DEFAULT settings (I just plugged it in, and use it as-is), and I've never ran into any problems. Perhaps
you should invest in a HOTAS setup.

Re: Joysticks - kingfisher-blue - 22-10-2005

Thanks for all the advice, have decided to get a Saitex X45, have persevered long enough with Logitech, always seem to be having to re-
calibrate. Thanks for the help, John

Re: Joysticks - NLRalph - 22-10-2005

The joysticks that i use are:

CH Products Yoke
CH Products Throttle
CH Products Pendals

It is a little bit expensive (about the 199 eur each) but than you have a very real flight enviroment. The only thing is when you fly a lot
you must calibrate the yoke every week. Its only for better results.

Happy Flying

Re: Joysticks - SWAFO - 22-10-2005

I paid $80 USD for the Saitek X45, and I never have to calibrate it (at least yet)!!! Let me know how you like the X45, kingfisher!

Re: Joysticks - kingfisher-blue - 22-10-2005

Thanks guys, I found this piece of info on the Logitech Joystick CD its supposed to clear away any joysticks calibrations you have created
from your system registry, Its a little program that is on the Logitech CD. I tried it to see if it made any difference but no joy. Definitely
going to have a change : --

5.1 CALIBRATION ISSUES

If your device does not calibrate correctly the calibration information in
the system registry may be corrupted. To correct this issue you may use
the Logitech Clear Calibration Utility (LCCU). The LCCU removes all
calibration information, including non-logitech gaming devices, in the system
registry. The LCCU can be located in X:\TechSupt\ClrCalib\ClrCalib.exe (X being
the drive letter of your CD-Rom drive). There is also a readme.txt located
there that will give you more information on "ClrCalib.exe" and how to use it.
The LCCU can also be downloaded from the Support section of our website at
http://www.logitech.com

If the LCCU does not resolve your calibration issue you may also need to
upgrade to the latest version of Microsoft DirectX. You can find the
latest version of DirectX at http://www.microsoft.com

Thanks again, John

Re: Joysticks - SWAFO - 23-10-2005

So are you going to be getting the S X45?

Re: Joysticks - kingfisher-blue - 23-10-2005

Most Definitely S X45. I uninstalled the joystick, ran the clear calibration utility, re-installed the joystick and recalibrated it, no difference
whatsoever. Am sick of Logitech. Will let you know what I think of S X45 it in a couple of weeks time. It`s got to an improvement on what I
have at the moment. Cheers, John

Re: Joysticks - ok65 - 25-10-2005

I have used the S-45 for almost a year now, flying almost everyday and done nothing with the stick since i installed it

Re: Joysticks - JayKae - 25-10-2005

I would suggest to forget about the x45 and get yourself the upgraded model like me the x52 it's better in the hand and fully adjustable for
if you don't like the defaults, has more metal parts to it than the x45 and is so easily configurable to your absolute own likings with the
software that comes with it. Switching to settings for one game to another is a mere click of a mousebutton. Also the mouse facility on the
x52 is awesome whereas on my old x45 the mouse did not always do what I wanted it to do. Another advantage, if you are flying in a dark
room it lights up on the most important controls. http://www.saitek.com

Hope it helps

Re: Joysticks - Paul D - 25-10-2005

i have the Saitek x52 best joystick i agree with JayKae

Re: Joysticks - kingfisher-blue - 25-10-2005

Sorry guys but have already ordered S.X45. As I don`t play games at all on the computer, just flight sim, so configuration for different
games isn`t a problem and I feel quite sure that the X45 will be perfectly adequate for what I require. At least I hope so. Thanks anyway,
will keep you posted on how I it goes with X45, John

Re: Joysticks - ste9889 - 25-10-2005
