If you look at an IAP (Instrument Approach Chart), you will find a missed approach procedure listed on there. That is the published
missed approach.
Generally speaking, the published missed approach includes an altitude to climb to as well as a holding point (VOR, FIX, etc) with
instructions on how to get there (Radial Intercept, etc) and how to hold there (Radial and direction of the fix to hold, leg "time",
standard/non-standard).
