Published or non-published? - Morocco - 05-09-2005

Hi all!

I want to know what's the difference between a published go-around and a non-published go-around?

Thanx for your answers!

ps. sorry for my bad english.

In flightsim always take the non-published, otherwise you will bring up a box asking you where you want to go next. I don't know what it
would be IRL but Brad would know being a real airline pilot. But in FS at least always take the non-published missed approach, and they
will vector you 30-40 miles out of your way to get back on the ILS..... Rant

If you look at an IAP (Instrument Approach Chart), you will find a missed approach procedure listed on there. That is the published
missed approach.

Generally speaking, the published missed approach includes an altitude to climb to as well as a holding point (VOR, FIX, etc) with
instructions on how to get there (Radial Intercept, etc) and how to hold there (Radial and direction of the fix to hold, leg "time",
standard/non-standard).

Eric's completely right! The published/non-published missed approaches are the same as published/non-published approaches. The
published one's are published in our charts, while the non-published aren't. Usually, ATC or the pilot would "invent" a non-published
procedure as they go.

Thanks guys, more knowledge to slot in the old grey matter. And something else flightsim doesn't handle well at all then.

Re: Published or non-published? - SWAFO - 05-09-2005

FS has made a major leap in ATC technology, however it's still not near an "acceptably realistic" level. Remember, FS200 and before
hardly had any interaction with control systems (I think you could request takeoff, and listen to ATIS). FS2002 made a huge jump, and
FS9 made a slightly smaller, but no less required step. Hopefully, FS10 will add A LOT to the ATC realm... I'm looking for emergency
coverage, easier enroute re-routing, etc.

proper STARS would be nice though, This is why Im about to start flying online all the time. Another thing I would like to see is better flight planner.

Yes, there is a long list of ATC improvements that would be welcome. We'll have to wait to see what the future holds!
