Will be building a new system in late May primarily to upgrade for FSX and FSPX. Looking forward to that joyous day.
Question for all: marginally off topic... Will FSX run well enough on XP assuming hardware specs are up to snuff? I do not want Vista until it's fixed and stable. ![]() Charlie don't surf!

Yes, so far I noticed that FSX runs way better on XP than Vista. I hate Vista anyhow

Same here, gave it a try, well, I quickly came back to XP. The only advantage I found was for running games really using DX10, and that's not the case
of FSX, the DX10 "preview" mode is a nightmare ![]()

Actually not many are going to Vista, computer companies are being requested to provide XP and NOT Vista on new purchases, and
some companies, including mine, will not sell a system with Vista installed.

This is great news. I've been using xPax from HiFi in the interim, and it just doesn't have the realism that FSPassengers provided in FS2004. I'm
very excited to try this, and I too hope it will work well with Vista. FYI, there are a lot of places that use vista in their business. Since SP1 Vista Business Edition has been very stable. My IT group has been using it for quite sometime and it works just as well, and actually provides some nice features over WinXP.

FsPX will run on vista but you'll need to run fsx as admin as with FsP04 (right click ->run as admin)
As programer I think it's a catastrophic OS in many aspects but by respect for those that like it I'll stop here my considerations ![]() Dan

All that matters is that FSPX will come some day and we can start to enjoy FSX as much as we love FS9
![]() I can see addon development switching to FSX more these days then before but I cant say yet that I fly it more then FS9..... just missing out on FSP still I guess ![]()

It's the same with everything, Vista comes out, everyone hates it thinks it's worst than XP. A bit like when FSX came out, everyone thought it was junk, and stayed with FS2004. It just takes time for people to get use to the new features. Although I do know where you are coming from, Vista is a bit well "sluggish" Matt ![]()

XP is stable, fast, never problems. All qualities Vista is lacking
![]() well, the rest of the OS ![]() ![]() Don't get it for DX10, read the forums everywhere and you will find out what catastrophic effects that has on FSX ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

Hi,
so, now you finished implementing new things? Its good to hear that everything runs as expected. I hope the beta phase starts soon. This has been a really long waiting time. I never expected this when i switched to FSX in October 2006! Regards, Heiko

Quote:I hope the beta phase starts soon. Devolopment on any scale takes time. As far as this goes Microsoft have virtually re-written the entire FS framework without thinking of back-compatability! Why am i not surprised!!! so poor Dan has had to start almost from scratch i would think. On the XP-Vista debate we come back to Microsoft again the last OS i remebr Microsoft realeaseing that was stable on teh first relase was DOS 5! It seems whenever they release a new system it is still unstable some of this is most likely caused by everyone wanting to use thier old software and hardware with the new system and guess what!!!! Back-compatability becomes a problem again! give it a year or so more and some new updates and we will all be saying vista is great. Personally i still miss DOS and CPM before that i guess im just old fashioned. Tim ![]() |
