Dear Flight Simulator and FsPassengers Fan.


I'm working since month on the upcoming FsPassengersX for "Flight Simulator X"
it will have new features and reworked stuff. your old database will be compatible
mean you'll be able to continue your career on FsPX. Customers of FsP 2004
will have a rebate for buying FsPassengersX. FsPX is due spring but a precise
date is impossible to to say yet. (dont's ask please

This thread is a sort of "blog" where I post often latest news about devellopment and new feature added.

Most Important feature you missed: (if you didn't read old thread)

In the payload dialog You can now set a type of flight, "normal" as usual, "flight tour" with income based on flight
time and where you can land on same airport and "aerobatic" where you must shake you passengers to get points.
I plan at least to add "humanitarian flight" type and maybe "contreband flight" :

More images in report and dialog, you can now add flight report banner (with a simple browse to jpg button)
pilot and company logo will also work with "browse button" (instead of manually copying image)
and last aircraft report will show FsX aircraft thumbnail:

A new stunning feature: restore last flight's location, with company in economic mode FsPX will record
your aircraft's location and state when you buy your aircraft and at each end of flight. You will be able
to continue your flight from last location of each aircraft without managing dozen flight save. FsP
take care of that. Restore is simple and optionnal, from the fligth menu select the restore dialog:



Then select an aircraft and click ok, once restored select "start flight" from menu:

Update:

I'm working to adapt every "special" function for Service pack 1 and Service pack 2
so FsPX will work on FsX with SP1 or SP2.

So if this works with FSX SP2, then I assume that I will be able to use it with the Acceleration expansion pack, since the Acceleration pack contains
the same code changes as SP2?

Yes, It's primary programmed on SP2 since I have it. Now I'm adapting also for SP1.
FsPX detect version and use the proper function. Later I must test if expansion have
exactly the same dll than SP2, accordingly to Ms yes, if not I can detect that also
and adapt the code for it.

FsPX will not work on FsX without any patch, it will warn the user about installing either
SP1 or SP2 (or expansion) patch and abort.

Adaptation for SP1 is now 60% complete (I started today)

Does "restore last location" also restores the last fuel level?

Restore work the same than "save/load" flight of FsX, mean all data state and panel are restored.
I only deactivated weather, time, date, flight plan, GPS etc etc... (because obviously you don't
want the old one as you'll start a new flight)

Howewer about fuel: the payload dialog when you'll start the flight will overwrite the old fuel data
if you change the fuel sliders..

cool as well as humanitarian/contraband/tour/aerobatic do you think there could be "diplomatic" or "governmental" type flights? where you have to fly Air Force One for example, and the passengers loaded are automatically 'President Name' (either fictional or current, with the ability for users to change anyway) along with some general names for bodyguards. Basically VIP flights - you could also do flights for other VIPs, as they can afford to travel by private jet (singers, bands etc). just an idea, but it beats pretending you're doing the flights, where you can actually get bonus points (+1000 for a satisfied VIP?) and force them to pay a lot more money.

Great idea, but I think VIPs should have a lower tolerance of your in-flight mistakes, in order to balance things up a little...

Question about name editing:
does it simply edit the name for the flight, or is that name permentantly added?

If it does edit the name, does it replace the name previously there?

I know there is the passenger config file where you can add names and stuff so say I have that file:

and in game I fly and I change that to ccc fff 23
next time i fly, will ccc fff 23 come up or aaa bbb 15 again?

Its temporary...

I had other idea as "saving current list" with 4-5 "memory slot" that you can recall for future flight
so you can take one complete crew for a world tour for example but this might be too complicated
and time consuming for a feature that will not intterest everyone. After all names are just an "eyes candy".
(A nice one as eyes candy are also important in game but would this worth the time spent to program it?)

what if you added a tag to the passenger configuration file...
(i dont have fsp installed becuase im not using fs9 so im really dont remember how it went)

but in the passenger database, could there be a spot where it is true or false (or even blank so you dont have to go through and add false
to eveyr member) where if it is true, it adds that passenger as preferred...

so here is my passenger.cfg (even though i believe it is a spreadsheet)

firstname lastname age preferred
aaa          bbb        21
ccc           fff            35
my           friend     23        true
ggg         hhh         49

then when the plane loads passengers, it checks if any are "preferred" and makes sure they are on the flight...
this way players can have that added eye candy without having to do it every flight, but it is a nice idea!

Hopefully that would not be to hard to check (granted if the passenger list is long, it will add to run time by O(n), or maybe there can be a
seperate list that handles this so instead:
passengers.cfg
and passengers_preferred.cfg to simply things?)

Editing names is rather neat but really I hardly ever look at it. It's more of a perk to be able to do that but not something that would really
warrent a lot of programming time I don't think.

I second that - I'd use it once or twice, but anything more complicated than that isn't really worth it.

Yep sounds good to me. Dan could you comment on the possibility for this feature please? Another suggestion; reputation would start out
very low, with almost unknown celebrities needed your services. I've been thinking about it all day haha. Imagine creating a company
specifically used to transport VIPs? Economic, strict rules on rank and low reputation. Start out with a Cessna transporting one or two
people, then get bigger to say a learjet or fokker and 100% reputation means you're the best in the industry - you've been called upon by
the US air force to fly air force one for the president. any feedback would be appreciated. only reason i chose air force one in particular is
because it's the only reason i think one would need to fly a large plane to transport celebrities (an excuse to fly a big plane). if you
accepted this offer you'd get the air force one for free. but as mentioned, mistakes result in a lesser reputation or something, as VIPs will
expect nothing but the best for the money they pay.
