Is FSP Dead?

Not really, the community are still adding payload packages, sound packs and other tools to this web site. So technically, FSP is not dead, neither is
it's comunity.
You might of noticed a new version of FS is expected to be relased in just over a fortnight. And Dan has already said in the past that he will work to
update the program to work with that.
As for these 'many bugs'... I've been using FSP for over six months and not seen anything that would be considered a programming error. FS is far
far more prone to CTDs than FSP.
And out of interest, which sites do you review for?

Having cutting edge technology doesn't necessarily mean it will run everything properly. After all, it has flaws,too. My machine sure isn't
cutting edge technology but it runs every add-on I have quite well( and I have quite a number of add-ons), including FsP...already
established that fact. When I see someone having an issue with FsP, there is usually a quick fix to the person's issue within this "dead
community".
Ruaim, you have vented your frustrations in this forum. Points are duly noted and given the attention by this "dead community". Frankly, it's
this "dead community" that has provide me with a tremendous amount of knowledge regarding FS9 and many add-ons that enhance the
sim flying experience. I enjoy coming to this "dead community" to share what I have learned with newcomers who are scratching their
way through the maze of FS9 and features of FsP. So, the support in this "dead community" has been fabulous...despite what you may
think of it.

Ruaim, I'm still wondering what those many bugs are you're referring to? You mentioned disappearing menu. What are the others?
Sure, there'll be always things which might need some improvement, and yes, there will be some bugs also, just name any software without bugs, i think
it doesn't exist.
Yes, this reply is also not an answer to your disappearing menu problem and to tell you the truth, I don't know the answer to that either. All i can
say is that I (and many others) never experienced it. If this only seems to occur to some out of thousands of people, maybe it's not correct to call
it a bug then? Maybe something else is causing it in your fs setup, or your hardware config?

About being dead or not, in several posts Dan mentioned about fsp updates and what to expect now with the new fsx about to come out .

Btw, are you testing support by coming in here saying that this software is bug ridden? I have my doubts about this kind of testing and would expect
better from a professional reviewer

Right, I will come out of the closet so to speak. I have been getting a little carried away, as others have too in this
post!

I have already written a very highly flattering review of FSP 2004 on Acegamez.co.uk (and on the now defunct

I am just annoyed I guess - this one bug (i exaggerated) of all may passengers disappearing and FsP
disappearing from the taskbar is
getting to me - and the fact it happens on both my top notch machines makes it all the worse.

Never mind - it's only a game after all!!

OK, to answer your question Ruaim: I fly with FS9 because it's the nearest I'll ever get to realising my boyhood dream of becoming an ATP.

And just a little point I'd like to make: up until last Saturday, my FS9 was totally useless. I even went out to purchase a top-of-the-range(ish)
graphics adapter in the hope of speeding things up.

I made one landing at EDDF (Aerosoft's) where I practically dropped out of the sky onto the runway subjecting my pax to G-forces they'll be telling
their grandchildren about. And voiced the opinion that Mega Airport Frankfurt was a load of S**t.

And then I re-formatted my machine and carefully reinstalled everything following every advice I could find.

The result is: a flying experience I have never encountered before!

So is EDDF crap? I'll be returning this weekend with bated breath.

I do agree that an update is oustanding; but as the actualy product is as well, I don't really care. I've learnt to wait until I cross the alps before
serving drinks (sorry, we are descending to our destination) even though my #1 hub is surrounded by mountains.

As I learnt to deal with 7-bit MIME for a very long time even though (one of my) language requires öäéàüè.

And I don't write reviews, BTW, I write the thingies that end up getting reviewed!

Ruaim, have you recently updated your graphics drivers? I have been hearing some complaints from some ATI users here and there
about the latest 6.9 Cat drivers for example

As I run the same set up on a machine with Nvidia and another with ATI, and do have the latest drivers that suggestion won't work.

I'm starting again - due to the sheer volume of add-ons on my machines, I fear there is a conflict somewhere - and BTW most of the add-
ons are rubbish anyway. I will sift and save the best - and FSP still has a place there!

I'm finding FSP very stable - I can't recall a single software crash since I got the program installed. The only small annoyance is that I
have graphical rendering issues with FSP mini-reports windows sometimes (think with some payware planes) - but not in the full
screen mode, so I usually try to use FSP only in full screen. I also get few graphical problems with FSP reports & mini-reports when I
crank the AA to 8xS (max) in my nVidia control applet - but I don't use the latest drivers and don't want to get into reinstallation routine. I
think that the program is decently written. I feel that certain things could use some polishing but overall all is OK. FSP is a good program
that literally got me back to flight simulation - in the past 1-2 years I sold or disposed all my flight sims and quit buying anything new. I
gave one last shot to MSFS-2004 (with FSP add-on) before putting it on eBay - and I never uninstalled it since. Within few weeks after I got
FSP I already own 3 new payware sceneries and 5 payware planes..despite that FSX (already pre-ordered from PC Aviator, those guys
got good business with me these days) is coming up next month, ha-ha, I think that I'm definitely hooked once again. Thanks FSP - the
use of passengers makes all the difference!

cutting edge machines...huh...and 3 gigs of ram...huh.....jeeez......I am hard pressed NOT to speak out what i think right now as I don't want
to stirr up more....just this one: Google about memory controllers, dual channel and HOW to use it to the maximum......
