Is FSP Dead? - Ruaim - 27-09-2006 FSPassengers has been around for a while now, and I have had the pleasure of using it since the start, writing 2 reviews for gaming websites along the way. However, FSP is hardly perfect and suffers from many bugs, which are mentioned right here in the forum. What has happened to the updates! The current version is over a year old! Re: Is FSP Dead? - AKLupine - 27-09-2006 The current version of FS is 2 yrs old. I would imagine that Dan will have a new version out not too long after FSX hits the streets and he has a chance to see how much code needs to be rewriten to get FSPax to work. Hopefully not too much and it will still be usable by those of us who will be sticking with FS9 for a while longer ![]() Re: Is FSP Dead? - JayKae - 27-09-2006 Not by a long shot ... a program like this will ALWAYS be in demand no matter if we are up to FS version FSMM ![]() Re: Is FSP Dead? - Ruaim - 27-09-2006 So, is there actually an improved version in the pipeline? I run my FS without FSP more than with it lately. Re: Is FSP Dead? - DBE - 27-09-2006 Too be perfectly honest Ruaim, I cannot agree with you when you state that FsP "suffers from many bugs". I've performed a fair amount of flights and I cannot say that I've encountered that many. FS9 is buggy itself, so why do you insist on using it? Re: Is FSP Dead? - Ruaim - 27-09-2006 Indeed if acknowledging this fact, why do you use FS9? The only problem with your synopsis is that the bugs I experience actually refer to FSP. I would adjust the code myself but for the matter of intellectual rights. I regularly review FS add-ons for a gaming website, and know what program/ module/ add-on that causes the bugs I see. You can of course still call me dumb by inference, but not that dumb! Perhaps you could answer the question in your next post. Post Edited ( 09-27-06 18:02 ) Re: Is FSP Dead? - Drew - 27-09-2006 Could you type a list of the 'many bugs' as i only know of 2 actual bugs, one of which has only ever been posted about on here once by me ![]() Look forward to the list (i expect you to say things like 'destination incorrect bug' etc Ps, i assume you have the latest version? 150905 i think? Re: Is FSP Dead? - jeffrey11190 - 27-09-2006 where is dan, does he have a new job or something Re: Is FSP Dead? - Joeflyer - 27-09-2006 Maybe Ruaim has a buggy computer that runs a buggy Fs9? Personally I have been running FsP since March of this year and haven't experienced any bugs caused by FsP. The biggest issue I have had is the dreaded FS9 ATC .dll causing CTDs. Of course this hasn't happened in quite some time now. Ruaim, maybe it's just YOUR pc that's creating some issues for you while running FsP. Plus, if you ever find a "perfect" program out there, by all means let us all know where this "perfect" programmer is so that we can all extend our kudos to him/her for being so "perfect" ![]() Post Edited ( 09-27-06 19:54 ) Re: Is FSP Dead? - Ruaim - 27-09-2006 Exactly as I thought FSP is dead, as is its community, PLEASE read the posts properly before you comment. Sorry I bothered you all. It's amazing to me that so many people defend something that pays them nothing, living it seems in a deluded virtual world! On the subject of bugs, the biggest bug I have, the one that tops the lot - is the disappearing FSP from the task bar and self aborting FSP flights. This makes FSP unusable - it does not happen all the time, but makes you wish you hadn't bothered to set up the flight. But I haven’t pushed this fact since it has been mentioned before by others and no solution has been suggested. I don't have a buggy computer as has been claimed. Read my post - I am a software and game reviewer as well as a web developer and electronics engineer. I have 2 test machines and both are cutting edge and self built. One is an AMD platform FX-62 with 3 GB of RAM and a1GB NVIDIA 7950 GX2 graphics card etc etc, while the other is Intel based (Core Duo E6700 with ATI graphics X1800XT). Each with twin 19" LCD monitors. Unfortunately this problem exists on both machines. Again, I say read the post before you dive in, for instance Drew said (a moderator at that): "Probably due to the fact there are no other flight simulators with the same amount of add-ons and support etc What should he do, just give up on flight simulators all together just because fs is buggy?" In a previous reply someone actually asked this question of me - so why turn it around? Again, thanks moderators, so much for the support in this forum - is anyone going to actually answer the question I originally posed? - I will rephrase it: Has FSP for FS2k4 been left on the sidelines? Joeflyer: Again, I'm not saying that any software is perfect, only that developers usually continue progression - FSP has ground to a halt. Please note; don't reply in a way that accuses me of being controversial, after all I only asked a simple question. And yes I am using the so called "latest version." Your asking for support? i thought this community was dead, or do you want it to be reincarnated to answer your question? ![]() ![]() Post Edited ( 09-27-06 21:22 ) Re: Is FSP Dead? - Ruaim - 27-09-2006 I would be a little careful when speaking to potential customers that way, Making fun of anyone in the community is sticky ground especially for a moderator. this is not a moderators brief, and never sounds clever. Of course you know best- you are the man - moderator. Unfortunately, moderators don't boost sales, but games review sites do, as do thier writers. Answering the question as to why i still use a buggy FS - thats goes with the job - and not forgetting - It brings me closer to the "FS community" and people like you - DREW Thanks Drew, you are a rising star. LOL indeed. (testing support has never been so much fun) I think this tread should be terminated before it shows up FSP and it's "Support staff" any further. Post Edited ( 09-27-06 21:35 ) Re: Is FSP Dead? - Drew - 27-09-2006 i just knew you would say something about game review sites in your followup ![]() You have stated it has 'many bugs' so your not going to write anything nice anyway, so this gives you something interesting to add. Your welcome ![]() As for be being a moderator here, to be honest, i could be removed from being a moderator tomorrow if they wanted, remember im not paid, it has no affect on me ![]() Post Edited ( 09-27-06 21:33 ) Re: Is FSP Dead? - Mikecd04 - 27-09-2006 Never had any problem with fspassenger myself, crashed only once when i clicked to get the end report, at that wasnt even Fspassengers...it was a nasty payware plane |
