In a 737400 what is the cruise speed i go 300 knts can you go higher than that without overspeed

it depends on how high you are the higher the Atitude the lower your speed is going to be before you go into overspeed

When you get higher in altitude (say above fl260) , switch over to Mach - that way you won't overspeed as you get higher. You should be able to do
around mach 0.8 or so without overspeed.

SWAFO certainly know best about mach and knots (at least from his F18 era ) but switching from knots to mach won't allow you to fly
faster.

The mach scale vary with altitude, because the speed of sound vary with temperature. If you are very high (and the air is colder), the
sound travel slower than at sea level (where the temperature is higher). You don't have to travel as fast at 45 000 to break the sound
barrier.

Between 30 000 and 60 000 feet, the speed of sound is about 570 knots, and at sea level it's about 660 knots.

So mach and knots are different scale, mesuring two separate thing. If you fly at mach 0.8, your speed is about 80% of the sound's
speed. It won't allow you to know your "true speed".

Anyway, the cruise speed of most 737's will vary between about 300KTS GS, all the way up to 500KTS ground speed. This is in the 345
to 615 MPH range! Pretty fast! Lots of conditions are factored in to the final determination of cruise speed. These include airline specific
economy settings, altitude, air pressure, various other atmospheric conditions, departure delays, and LOTS of other things. 300 KIAS is
about the cruise speed of a 737 at FL290 (roughly). You ask elementary questions, so I'm giving elementary answers! Hope this helps!

Also, most FS 737 panels will have a max airspeed barber pole on the gauge. If you go past it, you're considered overspeed. I set my autothrottle
usually 15kts slower than the barber pole. This gets me arount mach.82 (usually) with still enough buffer for sudden wind sheers.
