Simple really. In fact, I think there's a topic on it in the FAQ. But as a brief recap:

1. Determine the distance of your flight.
2. Estimate your ground speed for the duration of the trip (take your normal cruising TAS and correct it for wind = GS).
3. Use the formula D/S = T to find your enroute time.
4. Add in the appropriate time for departure and approach.

1 time I had 100% precise , I do it like this a make a flight in the planner look at the navlog and on that time I add 20-30 min more
depends from the airport, and that is with me always quiet in the area.

I always add a 40mins to the navlog with a traffice rate of 80%... You never know who is flying in and out ...

I usually try to work out what my GS should be, but ActiveSky with some planes is pretty accurate, half the battle is knowing which runway
you will t/o and land on.

I open NavLog in FS9 - and then simply add 45 minutes for big jets, big airports, around 35-40 minutes for small props and smaller airports.

The extra time is for taxi, climb, approach, final, landing and taxi (45 minutes seems to work well for far side approaches).

So if NavLog says a flight is 55 minutes, I will allow 1h o9ur 40 min. If the NavLog says 15 min flight, I allow 1 hour.

Works well.
