Really Cheap Airplanes

I downloaded that scenario where you start with $10,000 and have to work your way up. I like this idea, and really would like to do it..but what kind
of aircraft am I supposed to buy? The default Cessna is about $200,000, and I've tried a couple of freeware single-engine planes.

The website that lists the cost of the a/c seems to be having issues.

Any help here? I have $10,000.

You just need to keep looking round for a cheap old second(or 10th even) hand aircraft. A Cessna should only be that sort of price brand
new. An old C152 should probably cost you around 8K.

edit: Where are you checking the prices? If it's the price and rank browser those are new prices, and all on the high side, you can pick something up much cheaper than 200K, I can buy a Brand new A36 for only 236K.

Yeah, you have to run FS and go into the company manager to try and get used plane deals. Check all the prices under "opportunities" for used planes
when you go to try and buy a candidate plane.

I'm still not having much luck...downloaded about 10 freeware airplanes, trying to find the crappiest single engine jobs I can..and the ones under
$10,000 need $60,000+ of repairs or maintenence.

Is there another list somewhere on the internet showing prices? Or could someone just point me to an aircraft they've been able to get for less than
10,000? I would be most appreciative.

10K and less is really tough. You're probably going to have to go with a lightweight 2-seater. A few of my suggestions are as follows:

Other possibilites (you'll have to search on the web, but AVSIM is always a good starting point)

RANS Courier
Cessna 140 or 152
Culver Cadet
Aeronca 2-seaters (such as the L-16, etc)
Bellanca 2-seaters
Luscombe 2-seaters
Taylorcraft MK V

There are also some 2-seat ultralights that actually can be used in FSP (some aren't actually all that "light"). Try the "Gliders and Ultralights"
link at Simviation.

I found the Bill Lyons Luscombe 8AF on AVSIM, and the Maine Wilderness float plane is around $9200 with no maintenence required.

Thanks everyone for the help..time to go flying. Or boating. Maybe both.

What is it about the Luscombe that makes it so cheap? As I recall, SaVas used one too when he got his $10K airline going. Just a quirk? I did some price checking for used planes, and found that really lightweight planes like the Culver Cadet were still about 80K-100K (U.S.) new, and used ones were less (but not that much less).

Ultralights were around around 30K or so new.

I did get a great price on a DH-2 Beaver once, around 27K U.S., but it was in need of repair, so my overall price wasn't anywhere near that cheap. So is there something special about the Luscombe? An easter egg?

I'm not sure. What really makes me scratch my head is that the cheaper variety is the floatplane. It would seem to me that a floatplane would cost
more than a regular landing gear aircraft. So I think it may just be an glitch in the pricing.
