[RW question] cessna 152....

For xmas, i received a 'trial 30 min flight' from my parents (thanks to them )

it says

'the flight will be conducted with a fully licenced instructor and you will be offered as much "hands on" as you like. However, there will be
an occasion for the instructor to fly as the need dictates'


with regards to the hands on, what can i expect to do while up there?

im not going to book it for a while (have a voucher) and think around april time will be the best sort of time.

parctice basic flight manuvering, maybe do slow flight, that sort of thing, you might get lucky and get to T/o but im not sure for landing (try
to make that 30 minutes last a looong time, I get it by the hour somtimes and it can still go to quick :P

If your training make sure you can continue after that, im working on my solo (should have it but mom didnt want me to :p) and now I
havent flown in a month -- mainly becuase flying gets expensive

make sure you buy a logbook and get the time logged!
you aint gonna do much in 30 mins, but at least get it to count!

im hoping i can take a picture of my house from up there, thou in a 30 min flight, not sure if i will get close enough

so will i get to operate the radios etc?
will i get to actually control the plane (shut it dutch, i wont crash it on landing )

You're gonna love it! When I went up I got to taxi a bit on the ground before takepff(almost rolled into a ditch,the instructor evidently
takes off but you get to fly for most of the half hour and he lands. For me, it was my first time ever in a small aircraft so the experience
was thrilling on two levels: 1)Getting the ability to fly and 2)Getting the joy that comes from flying in a small cessna(i think it comes from
the G forces that seem alot stronger) I started flight lessons the very next weekend and now I have logged about 6 or so hours(my log
books downstairs and I'm too tired to go get it). Unfortunatly the bloody weather has been so bad lately that I've missed out on something
like 12 hours that could have been lol.

Oh, but "Brad" said no external objects in the cocpit!!!

I recall that thread...if memory serves he claims that you cant even bring a book into the cockpit

Anyway, have a great time flying Drew!(surprisingly theres no smiley with an airplane in the list...)

1) Depending on how nice your instrutor is he may let you take off, I got to do it on my first lesson but not controlling rudder pedals.
2) The 30min. does fly by quite fast so enjoy it while you can
3) If you start training think of pricing out different airports and going for the best price because-as crowebird says-it gets quite expensive.
I fly at a club that owns a private runway instead of opperating at a small airport. I live in Toronto so CNC3 is where i train but most
schools would conduct out of small commercial airports such as Toronto island airport were you also pay to use the runway to takeoff
and land. its only a few bucks difference for each hour but over time it adds up. Also when you narrow your search down to what
clubs/schools you want to train at, go in and talk to the instructors there, take a look at the equipment, aircraft and facilities in use.

Cessna has a great website that offers information on narrowing your search, what to look for, what to ask etc.
