I saw MCE advertised on Flightsim.com the other day and decided to install the fully functional demo from the developer's web
site. I'm glad that I
did, as I got the chance to see how immersible this program is, and in fact, it's more immersible than Voice Buddy. I wrote a
review about MCE on
Flightsim.com's Pilot Shop, but I did not get as detailed as I wanted.
If you install the demo, you get 4 uses out of it before most functions become unavailable. I suggest going through the
voice recognition training at
minimum 3 times before using the program on a flight. This ensures accuracy on command/request responses from the
co-pilot/ground crew/cabin crew,etc.
I used MCE with the PMDG 737 over the weekend and had mixed results. What I did find is that the module that I had to copy
and paste into the FS9
Modules folder actually conflicted with FsP when I tried to perform maintenance on the aircraft after a flight. It crashed
the sim. The resulting
problem was FsPassengers.dll. I uninstalled MCE and deleted the module that comes with MCE as well as any remaining folders
related to MCE. The very
next flight I had no issues with FsP's company manager or anything else in FsP. All worked well afterward. Others who try it
may not experience the
same result, so give it a try and see how you like it.
