any aircraft that flight one software does, is well worth it. But you will have to spend time in reading the manuals though. Especially for full
operation of the atr 1

Meaning do you want a glass cockpit, FMC etc. Why I ask is that there are so many good addons for FS and knowing what one is looking for the one can maybe give a bit of advice on which aircraft might suit your needs etc. I for one like to make use of differnt types of aircraft (glass cockpit to steam guages, jets to turbo-prop) to vary the types of flying in FS. However the ATR is a very nice aircraft which I also enjoy... cant really go wrong with it if you are looking for that kind of aircraft (as mentioned in your question). Another turbo-prop worthwhile looking into might be the PSS Dash8... however in my opiniun the FMC on the Dash8 is not good but the aircraft otherwise is brilliant. The procedures etc are really authentic on the Dash8... we tested it at a client against real life procedures they use on the Dash8-Q300 and it passed with flying colours... except on the FMC of course. So if you want to use the FMC go for the ATR rather but if you plan in flying without FMC give the Dash8 a serious look. ![]()

Quote:crowebird wrote: If you like the FMC then I recommend the ATR. I dont know if you are aware of it but the Flight 1 ATR was actually initiated by ATR themselfes and ATR had to sign off on the aircraft before it was released ![]() I would also recommend you downloading some nice checklists and takeoff/landing calculations/information (46 pages) in pdf form. A must have for anyone flying the Flight 1 ATR as it covers most important stuff from the ATR manuals condenced into a easier way to use without losing any authenticity. In fact it includes also some important pages left out from the Flight 1 ATR manual giving you even a more realistic experience and was also approved by Flight 1 as well. By using this download you will get alot more out of your ATR than just using the manuals that came with it. Once again a must have in my opiniun ![]() http://atr.flight1.net/forums/forum_post...=1942&PN=1 the link will point you to AVSIM for the download. Post Edited ( 01-16-06 00:15 ) ![]()

The Flight1 ATR Is an amazing add-on. So many extra features and little things, Many panel variation/windows, Good FPS in the 2Dpanel and VC [Not so
much VC on my low-end system], It's abit less than PMDG/LDS. IMO It's better than PMDG.

An interesting fact I read was that Flight1 were approached by ATR to do the plane, not the other way around, ATR wanted to showcase
this aircraft which is why it has so many things that on the real thing are optional extras (The FMC for instance). It's no wonder they chose them and they in turn brought DreamFleet in on it. What a bird, and once you get used to certain little foibles like having to make sure you hit several switches to lock the Autopilot to the FMC and that you have to work your own throttles she's a delight to fly. I have many hours in the F1-ATR and can say that I've enjoyed all of them. ![]() Flying for Landmark Airlines.

Is your flightplan active? You also need to set the dep rw to get the flightplan displayed on your nd. Are those buttons active like ap and cpl?

Quote:Dutch64 wrote: Yes, I make flightplan with FSNav, so dep. rwy is included I was browsing through the manual again and it says"select MAP mode to display the route". How does it display the route; just showing the names of the fixes/navaids or with a magenta line, like in PMDG(not likely?)? It also says "select CPL on PF side". I don't understand this. PF is Pilot Flying? But what's the meaning? ![]() "Blessed are those who can laugh at their own mistakes, for they shall never cease to be amused "

At this point I should be able to activate the flightplan in the FMC. Then I need to engage RNAV in the efis, and once I'm at a specific alltitude I engage NAV mode and the autopilot. and engage the IAS speed hold when climbing at around 170 knots. And off I go! Do the tutorial flight in the manual, and read the manual too. This is a great way to learn a new airplane. And to the one who wanted to know if this airplane is worth getting. I can say this... YES! ![]()
