AI sound and contrail poblem

As everyone knows the default ai sound is pretty poor. Does anyone know any good freeware replacements?

I am also having a problem with the contrails on fs2004. Look at the following link

About the contrails, it happens when two contrail effects are in place. Some addon aircraft come with their own contrail effects, you need to remove
one of them.
Ai sounds, there are some but most have an impact on performance. I don't remember where i got them from though

I downloaded some at AVSIM. It worked just great, and now the Jet's are much more loud, and sound more realistic! Not sure of the
exact file name. Looking for "AI SOUND" should give you some hits though!

The contrail problem is due to installing an aircraft that used an older version of the contrails. One of the most annoying looking hiccups
in the sim. I feel your pain as it happened to me a while ago

I have hundreds of add on aircraft and I can't be bothered to go through them all. Do you know how to deactivate the contrails instead?

Thanks to Savas' post i remember now, the problem is caused by fs2002 contrails copied there by one or more of your addons. Get from your disk 1 of
fs2004 the files fx_contrail_l.fx and fx_contrail_s.fx . Copy these files to your main effects folder (overwrite when asked to do so) and you're all set.

Usually, contrails only show when the aircraft is within a mile or so of me! Not too realistic!

Brad, if you search AvSim, 2004 Misc files, there is an addon to get 50 mile long contrails on AI. Works quite well

hey guys, I took the whole of yesterday re doing my add on ai sounds. I think i have them all now (of course the best to ability) I have
rumbling sounds down the runway for takeoff, startup sounds and reversers on landing (pretty much close to the real thing)

Thanks for the tip! How are FPS though? I'm using UT with 100% traffic volume!
