Vista RTM and DX10 Graphics Cards

It's (finally) done! Microsoft has released the RTM of Windows Vista (see http://www.msfn.org/comments.php?shownews=18675 ). Of course, you can't
get it until Jan. 30 (or Nov. 30 for businesses and people with TechNet and MSDN subscriptions), but anyway, it is finally done! Here is Paul

In other news, nVidia has begun shipping DirectX-10 graphics cards that should work amazingly well with FsX (see http://www.msfn.org/comments.php?shownews=18677 , or nvidia's page at http://www.nvidia.com/page/geforce8.html )!

haha... I've been testing Vista RC2 and it's not that bad.

Once they make FS and Dreamweaver work on WINE/Linux, I'll switch to Ubuntu permanently.

The lowest amount of ram is 640 mb

But, unfortunately, Vista takes up too much space on my HD to do any dual boot scenario, and I am not able to run linux by itself because of app
compatibility.

If I ever get another computer, I'll keep this laptop and just run Linux on it.

Speaking of HDD space, how much will it use? I'm looking at replacing my old ATA133's with a pair of Raptors. I was considering using
a 36GB, 10000 RPM for Windows and page file and then a second drive partitioned for FS on one and other stuff on another - considering
a 360GB one I saw recently for $160.

Just a friendly reminder to all those being hyped up about the vista release: You seem to have a short term memory only? Don't you
remember how long it took for XP to become an OS instead of an expensive PRE-BETA ? Do you think MS has learned it's lessons and
changed it's publishing strategy ???????

remember how long it took for XP to become an OS instead of an expensive PRE-BETA ? Do you think MS has learned it's lessons and

I've been testing RC and pre-RC builds of Vista as my primary OS for the past two months or so, and they are just as stable (if not more) than XP -
with SP2. XP's first release (and SP1, although SP2 should have been RC2) was no better than a glorified alpha build

No, I have a dedicated computer just for FS9, as a matter of fact, I have just bought a new computer for FS9 because I have decided not to
make the jump to FSX
