Question about passenger boarding

Sorry to keep asking questions,

I was just wondering if it is possible to have delays on the ground through 'missing passengers', cargo loading or refueling delays. I think
this would add even more realsim to the ground handling part of flying. I am thinking like something similar to the program Fsboarding
but a bit better.

Hello Robert,

There is a "delayed" boarding feature, when you start a fsp flight you can have the choice
to click on "immediate load" or "delayed load" if you choose this one you have another
dialog asking you how much time the boarding must take from 1mn to 20mn.

During this time you will have boarding sound effect as folk walking in the cabin
(as heard from behind a door) folk speaking etc etc and if you have the mini display
you can see how much people are on board currenlty and how much time to go until completion.

When the boarding is completed the hostess voice to you that all passengers are aboard,
close the door automaticly (if you have checked this option otherwise it's manual) then
she said the "welcome aboard" sound and your ready to go.

This feature is usefull to start with a black cockpit.

Now for your question if I get it well you would want to see somes "random" delay as
"captain we have a problem one passengers is late" or such ?

Well that may be intteresting but each case will require more sound for something
that may happen rarely, how do you see it ?

Of course I think this should take place during the "delayed boarding only"

The delayed boarding feature sounds great. I don't thaink the delays require a sound notification. However a small message could
appear in the status information display (possibly accompanied by a generic 'crew call' ding dong sound). This would be a good way to
enhance the boarding procedure without adding dramatically to the file size.

Dont worry if it requires large re-coding or anything like that, its only a minor feature

mhhh basically there would be only two more sound from the hostess "captain delayed because passenger"
and another reason "we lost a luggage" or "waiting somes luggage ?" 20ko in brief.

No promise yet but I may add this.

As many event in FsP anyway this will be "low risk" random so you will have it only rarely.

I made somes test Ok, you'll have it.

You have 10% chance that it happen during a delayed load and it will add only a few time to the normal
boarding, say 2-5 mn maximum.

Now if anyone would be kind to tell me if the hostess text below is correct ?

"Captain the boarding will take a bit longer because ..."

1-"one passengers is late"
2-"there is a problem with somes luggages"
3-"???"

Cabin crew messages to the flight deck (cabin interphone) are initiated by a 'ding dong' sound first before the message commences.
This needs to be included before any stewardess message to the flightdeck (for realism). A good hostess text could read:

"Captain, we have a slight delay in boarding as..."

1-"One of the passengers is late arriving at the gate"
2-"There is a problem loading some of the hold luggage"
3-"One of the passengers requires special assistance"

For cabin crew message there is two kind in FsP:
1-The hostess open the door and speak directly to captain (you hear the door, the voice is clear etc etc)
2-The hostess speak trought the cabin interphone (in this case you have a ding and a "radio" voice style)

Most hostess message are trought interphone but there is somes case for example
when you have very long flight where the hostess enter into the cabin to bring
somes coffee, food or just to have a short speaking. (those are only for ambiance)

Out of interest, what program do you use to create 'radio' style sound quality, or do you just encode sound at very low bitrates?

No worry, I like to relax from time to time from coding and one can't say that the forum
is flooded for now

I use various program and filters the main is the old cooledit and I have also goldwave
and sounforge for special case. I was also musician during a long time (didn't played since years now)
and I'm used to studio and sound editing.

Getting back on the topic of passenger delays, how about letting you decide to wait for the final passenger who is late, or just go. Leaving
the passenger will make them unhappy and possibly reduce your rating. But the other passengers will be happy because they get away
on time.

Though that might seem a bit harsh.

The usual cause of flight delays is all the people who have sneaked on their oversize hand baggage which won't go in the overhead
locker or (and we've all seen them) the passengers with the inability to actually sit down and strap themselves in ready for departure!

I've watched several programmes on TV about airlines and they don't seem to delay for a passenger who's late, you get told when you get
your ticket that you have to be at the airport AT LEAST 1 hour before boarding or you get left behind, simple as that. On the Airline
programmes I've seen them leave ppl behind just for being 5 minutes late. This is because the pilot has to get his manifest before he
programmes the FMC, he absolutely must know what weight he is carrying in good time. I'm sure any real Airline pilot may be able to
explain better why this is, but I'm confident it's to do with weight and balance issues.
