Is it just me or the landings are much harder ?

Another CG problem for me:
When I carrie 2 passengers with a Cessna 172, On one side there are twice the load (wheight of people) than on the other. Therefore I
encounter a lot of drag on the aileron to one diection. How can this be compensated if there is no way to assimetrically load fuel to the
wing tanks and as far as I am concerned there is no aileron trim on the mentioned plane? Or is there another way?

Geo,
Having an extra person on one side in a C172 shouldn't cause a balance issue at all. If you'd like, you can assymetrically load the
wing tanks... just use the FS2004 aircraft menu.

500 fpm seems pretty hard in a 737 to me - try using a little power in the landing (I generally fly only GA now though so they are a bit too
easy to land and get a good grade in FSP).

500FPM is just fine in a 737... you'll feel it, but it won't be an unusually rough landing.

interresting thing is that this force vanished when I was at the end of the flight (final). Could this effect develop if the aircraft is almost at its
max. wheight?

Sorry to hold you guys up, but truely I have never experienced this previously. :-) Beside all other features, FSP teaches us not to neglect
small details: I just love this add-on!!!

I got the same feeling and think it is a convergence of all factors written above.

- Personal stress factor mentioned by Brad,
- We have now an acurate quotation of our landings, may be before, we could imagine our landings better than they actually where (The force feedback
computer seat is still to be done)
- We have a different tool to load our aircraft then get other CG and total weight than usual. wich means different pitch for a given speed and
different Vat than usual.

My first try was with the default KSFO-KLAX flight with a 727 wich was quoted as "exceptional" until the crash-landing at more than 600 feets/min.

quite upset by this result (could only be a bug off course...), I made the same flight with the same plane and same load. Just keeping an approach 15
kts faster. The landing at +-195 fts/min was then way better.

So, on my mind, just up to us to take care of our weight, CG, speed and keep relax on the yoke....

As there is a payload model for the VC 10, My next try will be with David Maltby's VC 10 which have this nice feature: A speed calculator, you
click on the calculator and get the limit speeds for your current load. I will see if there is a difference between a standard flight and loading and
a flight with FSP.

I am fully satisfied so far, having a strict and acurate evaluation of my flight is indeed my goal with FSP, the crew activity, sounds,
co-pilotanoucment and voice chatter enhance greatly the "immersion" in flight atmosphere.

Just a littl wonder; I did not find how to resume a saved/reloaded flight without loosing the FSP session... Is save/ reload supported by FSP ?

Hi Dan,

I tried to place the CG a bit forward in the PMDG 737-800 that I flew , just like you suggested which resulted in a better landing ,however I
still find the vertical axis too "itchy" on approaches, in other words is very sensitive and I find it hard to keep the nose steady on the
approach , the speed is also harder to control , I just want to know if we just have to get used and practice these new flight "models" or
maybe something can be done ? don't get me wrong I LOVE this addon but after flying and landing a zillion times with the pmdg without
FSP I am amazed by how different it feels flying the plane with FSP.

I will try a different plane tonight and see if it handles differently too.

I would suggest to try different CG setting to try to find the original one
of PMDG (I know they do some unusuall things in modelling and handling)

but anyway an aircraft with a different payload usually would still handle a bit different
(That recall me my real flight in a DR420 with a normal guy on the right seat
and a fat guy on the rear right seat .... wasn't my better landing LOL)

The things is that it should be "flyable" but of course you will not land the same
with a full or an empty aircraft...


so try even fully front CG and see if it handle better for you:

Download my payload file for the PMDG -700... it should fix any CG problems with the -700 at least. I don't mess around with the -800, so
I can't be of much help there.

yes i was in a citation x fms programed on glide slope speed perfect right where the plane and the manual said i should be and as always it gives
me a hard landing????WHAT the plane and the book says from the mfg says this is the correct landing speed how the heck can i get a hard landing? i
loked at the replay and it was perfect too. then as most times as the flight report is processing the sim crashes again ever since i added this
program so all flight info and logged time lost.
