Flaps/Gears Limit

So... what's the threshold for flaps and gears speed anyway? The transition from props to jets is a little more demanding than I assumed. :P The
checklists for some planes say that flaps 1 degree can be used below 250. I think that's over the limit for FSP. Is this true?

For 737 you can have up to flaps 5 with 250 knots, but that's REALLY the limit.

Normal procedure is: 180 knots -> gear down, flaps 15.

Yes, but does FSP automatically recognizes the aircraft and airspeed. Would lowering flaps to 5 deg trigger the flaps speed limit in FSP, hence the
points deduction?

The thresholds for the individual aircraft are contained in their aircraft.cg and, thus, independent from FSP

Open your kneeboard and it will tell you all that information for each specific aircraft.

I agree. I had the same problem when I converted an AI-aircraft (md 83) into a normal aircraft. You can change the settings in the aircraft.cfg file
(make sure you make a backup of the original file).

The standard aircrafts (for example: boeing 737-400) in FS have a very clear description, e.g.:

//14 Airspeed limit for retraction (KIAS)
//15 Airspeed that gear gets damage at (KIAS)

Select column 15 under the section contact_points and you will see the gear gets damage at 250 KIAS.
But I always use 220 KIAS as the reference speed.

For the flaps you have to look under the sections flap.# for the damaging speed, e.g.:

damaging-speed = 250 // KIAS
blowout-speed = 300 // KIAS

The knee-board can be useful to retrieve this information, but I have noticed that not all aircrafts have a knee-board and not all the contents in the
knee-board are correct.
So, if you want to be sure or want to change these parameters it is better to consult the aircraft.cfg file.

I also agree, the limits are independent of FSp. FSp just reads the data out of the aircraft.cfg file.
