Can't delcare emergency

Ok so I was landing at Bogota and forgot about the dangerous airport situation, received various shots from ground fire but managed to land safely.
While landing thrust reversers didn't work *sigs* calibration problem so I pressed the brakes hardly and guess what...Brake failure....Left wheel goes
slightly off the rnwy and as soon as everything is ok I take the time to press Shif+ctrl+M just in case it was needed, but noticed nothing happened.

When I ended the flight I got a penalty for not reporting the emergency and had a lot of points deducted! So how come they can take away my points if
I can't declare emergencies on ground?

Why didnt you declare it while in the air? Whats the point of declaring an emergency once you have landed

You declared an emergency in the ground which is too late. If you have an emergency and the plane is going straight down are you
gonna declare emergency when you crash or before? And if the reverse thrust didnt work its probably because they shot and the engine
or something.

Nope, you didn;t got my point. I had a brake failure....brake failures occur while on ground so there is no way I could have called the mayday before
knowwing that the brakes would fail on me.

So im gonna re-formulate the questions:

-If I have a brake failure while on runway i won't be able to call a mayde since im already on ground. Will this reduce pilot points?

-Do I have to declare an emergency when going through a war zone even if my copilot wont report any damages.

I understand what he meant, in terms of the brake failure being on the ground - too late to declare then. But, to your comment, I think

I'd be interested in this answer as well, in case it ever happens. I would imagine you shuold receive damage and have to repair but, I
would also imagine the pilot would be too busy trying to control the aircraft and bring it to a stop to call a mayday.

UNLESS! Unless the damage was cause to punch the throttle and go around, declare an emergency and then try a full flaps, ultra low
speed approach on the longest runway. Maybe the brake failure should have alerted the pilot that he doesn't have standard stopping
strength available and he should make another pass, taking this into account when setting up.

Any real pilots want to comment on SOPs for brake failure on touchdown?

In my opinion if the ground shooting damaged the plane there is a MAJOR reason to declare an emergency.
And this I'm not sure, but is it possible the brake failure was caused by the shooting damage?

I don't think you can have "ground damage" in a dangerous zone. Also, he seemed to indicate that the brakes failed because he applied
them without using the thrust reversers (config error). I would imagine that would be like doing a Fred Flintstone brake action on a Ferrari
cruising down the autobahn!

Hi ,well I have noy been able to paste the report here but...yes it seems like my mistake not declaring an emergency since ithought there was none.

BUT! What about regular brake failures in 100% normal condition? No war zone. It will happen on ground and you won't be able to declare an emergency
so....i guess it won't take points away?

I think Dan is the only one that can answer your question about brake failure. No you dont declare emergency when going through a
warzone. When your going thru a warzone your suppose to be higher than a certain number of feet to not get shot at. I believe its 3000ft
and you wont get shot

I think there was an emergency which occurred and you weren't aware of. From experience, I know a brake failure isn't an emergency which you need to
declare. So something else happened. Do maintenance on the plane and see if any other damage shows up.

well look at it like this. If you land into a normal airport (no danger zone) and you've touched down, now your brakes dont work (brake
failure). You cant call a mayday cause your already on the ground. You said it yourself it wouldnt let you call an emergency. So if it doesnt
let you call an emergency on the ground im pretty sure it shouldnt dock you points for it. That would be kinda dumb seeing that it was
impossible to call an emergency.
