Just reported on British TV, a Airbus had been impounded by Air Traffic for decending to 600 feet 6 miles from Birmingham airport.

Maybe he wanted to do a sightseeing tour of England?
Or maybe since its an Airbus and "they fly themselves" then its computer was facing a meltdown

breaking news that i head on the news over 4 hours agao

At least it ended on a happier note than with that Air France A-320 a few years back, eh? Still, I don't call 'em ScAir Bus' for nothing!

Sounds like the pilot flies planes like I do. I turn my planes into lawn mowers for trees on occasion

I reckon he mistook Metres for Feet, should've been at 550 Metres (1800 feet) but came down to 600 feet.

ok, what actually happened....
Birminghams landing equipment was not working, so the pilot had to do a visual landing, spotted the runway, so was decending to land, only 'slight' problem was he was decending towards a disused world war 2 runway 4 miles away from Birmingham International

Maybe he thought a road was the runway or somthing.....once on FS2002 I tried to approach a skyscraper thinking it was the runway in the distance; we
are all human, and make mistakes.

Really scary...
