i figured out sumthing...me and my brain....

1knot=1.15mph

so...

if a flight was 500miles long and flying at 350knot, to caluate the time firstly u would caluate... 350 x 1.15 =402.5 then

T(time)=Distance/Speed
t=500/402.5
t=1.2hours or 1hour 12mins

add 10mins for ground taxiing!

250 is the average speed of an aircarft

no he means you have to figure in other speeds... you wont be spending the whole trip at 350kts, Below 10k you need to be at 250 kts,
and you have to figure what speed you will be climbing at, etc..

All falls back to there really IS pleanty of time in the day...it is just poorly arranged.

and dont forget about the wind speed and direction Usually at high altitude your ground speed is much more faster than your indicated
airspeed. now I'm flying at FL350 heading 119 wind 256 at 23 knots. IAS 270 knots, GS 469 knots, true airspeed 450 knots. too much
calculation, so usually I let activesky to calculate the time for me

In aviation we work with the "NM" (Nautical Mile)...it's easier cause KNOTS = NM / HOUR
So you save one conversion...

Question: why do you add 10 min for the ground speed (GS)? (You know it's related to: IAS => CAS => TAS => GS.... (to make it simple))

Exactly, most flight distances are in Nautical Miles anyway rather than statute miles. So the whole thing's a tad pointless.

yep 1knot = 1.5077947mph. 1.5077947mile = 1nm
Meaning 1knot = 1nm/h

Making it alot easier to calculate, because we mostly use nm.

In ActiveSky you can load a FS9 flightplan (click on " new route" ) and it then checks the weather on all points in the plan. It also gives you basic
weather at all those planes and forcasts too I think. It even prepares the enroute weather.

Exactly! Since I fly with a virtual airlines, I use their schedule as my dep&arrival time. I use active sky navlog function to check if I can
reach the destination ontime or not. It gives you a complete (IMO) metar along the way and also the estimated ground speeds for each waypoints. If
you use this tool correctly, getting extra 100 points for precise arrival time is easy
