Nope, the more I hear, the more I think I will pass on this one. That's too bad because it was within grasps of being a top notch add-on.

Hold on a minute there guys. Now don't get carried away by the "earcandy" factor. Yes the voices maybe annoying a little but they don't
sound 100% robotic. You can hear the pitch going up and down and there's an influx (spelling) too. I didn't try the software myself yet, just watched the videos. IMHO you shouldn't stop evaluating software at the first "wrong" thing you see. Don't forget that FS9 ATC has severe limitations although voices are much better. RC4 is promising and it could be a great tool for student pilots and amateurs and sim entusiasts to learn aviaton comms and Instrument procedures. IMHO these are the points we should focus more on. Don't let the earcandy side stop you from evaluating other great things this software might have. Besides they might offer a download package in the future that might make things sound better.

Personally I dont stop evaluating software if I see or hear something I dont like when there are hundreds of other features I do like,
however in this case, while I think the benefits would far outweigh the drawback, this one will probably be a purchase if they can get the voices a bit more pulled together. Inflection/pitch in voice and having many voices is great but WHEN it CoMeS out SOUNDING like thiS it can be cumbersome to the ears

Hi Silo, I agree that you should stop evaluating at the first wrong thing. Personally, I don't use FS2004 ATC because I think that it's crap.
RC4 promised to be an excellent add-on and probably will be. However, for me, the sound of the ATC does not justify the $44 they are asking for at this time. Should the price go down or should they offer an update that would allow for a better flow of the ATC clearance I will definitaly consider it. Plus, FS2004 ATC was included with FS2004; the cost of FS2004 itself if still way cheaper then the cost of Radar Contact 4.

I didn't even know it costed that much. However I must say that a 737 comes with FS9 but I bought the PMDG anyway because it has things that the default doesn't. In my opinion (again I didn't try the software yet and I do NOT work for them ![]() these things might not be as important and I recognize that. I'm not trying to convince anybody, I'm just trying to show a different point of view. Quote:Inflection/pitch in voice and having many voices is great but WHEN it CoMeS out SOUNDING like thiS it can be cumbersome to the Thanks for the correction. I was on my way out and didn't have time to look for the proper word. Again, yes I hate it too. But it's not too bad. I mean when I read this post I was expecting something like the times of the AMIGA or what MACS have now. In that case I might have had second thoughts too, maybe. Of course if you compare it to FS9 voices, it is a stepback. But I don't mind a little less earcandy if it gets you closer to reality. There are so many posts on this forum alone where people complain about FS9 ATC being DUMB! This software promises to replace FS9 ATC brain and make it more intelligent. I don't know, maybe I see it differently because I do fly in real life. The fact that FS ATC behaves almost like the real thing with RC4, excites me and makes me go over the earcandy thing. Let's put it this way: why you don't use FS9 ATC? Because it sucks! It doesn't give good vectors, it doesn't recognize SID, STARS, Holdings. It vectors you into mountains....etc... With RC4 you can do all of those things, which to me are way more important than the way it sounds (which ain't too bad). I'm having hard time showing my point because of the language barrier I guess.

I must say I too am deeply disappointed by the sounding of the voices...it feels...somewhat cheap...and REALLY annoying. The voice is harsh and the
stuttering makes me get a headache. Nope, I'll stick with MS ATC. It's MUCH more pleasant for the ears, and I mainly use ATC for ambience. And as of yet it hasn't vectored me idioticly away, so...nope, no RC4 for me *cries*. I was REALLY looking forward to this... ![]() "Dont be too optimistic. Nope, not the worst :P Ever tried VoxATC? Now THAT's ear torture :P. I'd pay a max of 20$ for RC4...it may have features, but the sounding is...TOO bad...

ok guys on the left of this forum site states that radar contact is a partner. Im sure with a link of this forum thread sent to the right people
will or maybe help with an update of the program pretty fast. I was reading some of the post and i guess all and i repeat every last one of the addons that comes about will have faults. Why? no ones perfect and it sometimes take for a program to be out in the market before others can voice their opinion. remember the tester will find faults, but more so faults that cause the program to crash and as well as faults that may cause error with the interaction of flightsim. So i believe the program will get better. Hang in there guys. Maybe it does not worth the price, but i guess an author sometimes price things according to what it cost them to make the program. Isnt that so....

My take - is it worth the price? Sure it does everything apparently that we wish we could get in ATC. Is there a drawback to the program?
Sure, the voice is choppy. It boils down to do you want close to real ATC with voices that need a slight makeover? Or can you live with the default FS9 ATC? 75% of the time I dont use ATC anyway since I mainly fly smaller aircraft out of smaller airports. Only time I use it is when flying heavies and only for take offs and landings. BUT I am still interested in this add-on, yet I dont find it a necessity to have. if the voices are pulled closer together then yes I would buy it, but as it stands right now I dont really need it. I prefer to fly in peace and quiet (except for the occasional screaming pax and my co-pilot telling me to look at my descent rate ![]()
