fsnavigator and IFR....

this will prob be obvious, but i just dont get it,. looked on fsnav forum, but didnt see answer

anyway, when you create a plan in fsnav, you create it from runway to runway (wont let u create from gate to runway)

once created, i save the route, restart fs9, load in the route, but it starts me from the runway (obviously as thats where i have planned)

i can change it to start at the gate in the fs route planner, but then i have to let fs plan the route again, which will differ from my saved one
and the one i will program into the FMC




basically ignore the above

how do i plan a route using fsnav, and load it into fs, starting at a gate and not an active runway?

I would like to know also because this also goes for other planners. That's one reason why i never use those things. Just check online the route, then
enter that route waypoint by waypoint in builtin fs9 planner. (and program the gps or fmc or whatever i fly with

well im going for my flight, i will just have to block up the runway for now while i set up fsp and my fmc etc

I use FSbuild thought...

But I make my flightplan in FSbuild, runway to runway, then I start FS9, select my position first, like ESSA Gate 83... Then load my pln, and exit
that screen, now it asks me if I want to move my plane to the one in set in the flightplan, I select no... WHAM! There I am, got a flightplan from
runway 1L but I start at a gate

I got used to the following procedure:
- place your aircraft at the desired departure airport and gate; listen to ATIS to get the active rwy
- plan your flight - rwy to rwy or, if you use FS ATC and no DP/STAR, just airport to airport
- export the flightplan to FS2004
- load the plan from FS9 just the way Nasder described it
Off you go.
BTW: you don't have to restart FS9 to load the plan.

Dutch, I recently downloaded a 10 part FSNav tutorial on how to create your own SIDs/STARs (forgot the link though). I stopped after part 1 but
am sure it would suit your need for complexity

Well, I stick anyhow by using the online planners, i got used to them and they do very well. I usually make a fp in fs9 also then (with the
waypoints from the online planner) just to upload it to ASV. For the planes, i program the fmc, mcdu or gps just by what i got from the online planner

Here's a recap and a further point:

1. Create the plan in FS Nav
2. Save it (optional)
3. Export it to FS9 and select the gate or parking you wish to start at
4. Switch to FS9and load it
5. By default FS9 assumes the flight plan is IFR. Most of mine are VFR however. I resave the flight in FS9 after changing the selection to VFR.
6. When you load the flight plan a second time, agree when it asks whether you would like to move to another position. This will put you at the Gate
rather than the active.
