Took me 30! Now I can fly it, somewhat... I'm flyign the 737NG at the same time trying to get used to the FMC... I just made a really nice flight over
the alps... too bad I got stuck in a "hold" and I couldn't get out of it

When I did, I had an addonpack that made my framerate drop to 5 while landing... wich resulted in me having a rather nice crater with a 737-600 in the
middle of it *cries*

I'm getting the hang of it though, thanks to the above link, the fmc in the 747 and the 737 are practially the same :D

Damn I love these planes.

Same reason someone spends 100 million dollars on a painting, or $365,000 on a new Bentley, or $1200 for a 3 inch wide Russian
sable paint brush, or $5000 for a flat panel plasma television.

the PMDG is a beautifully done aircraft with a high learning curve, but fun to fly

1 thing i dont like about it ive noticed thou, is the nose wheel does not turn when taxiing (by turn i mean laterally for corners, not rotating)
and it just seems to 'glide' around corners

It boils down to tomatos tomahtos and what you feel is value in the sim as a hobbyist

Ive spent more money over the past couple of years on the sim than I probably have sense, but its a hobby I very much enjoy and find
spending $50+ for an addon I want is a pittance to other things.

I being this up in reference. For my girlfriend and I to go to the movies, have a medium drink, and medium popcorn, maybe a box of
something sweet is $35 for an hour and a half to two hours, and more often than not the movie was horrible.

She and I can go to a 5 star restaurant and in 2 hours spend $250
I can go to a bar and drink martinis at $8 per martini, and in 6 hours be down over $100. What do I have to show for it? A hangover the
next day though I had fun drinking martinis and smoking fine cigars.

Some might spend $25,000 for a baseball card. Sure its worth it as an investment but to me its worthless regardless of who signed it as
I hate baseball.

What I value spending my money on, might not be of the same value to another.

If I spend 100 hours with the PMDG 744 Queen, its about 50 to 60 cents an hour. Worth it to me.

That's alot of money, I agree, (I'm a student without a parttime job)... But what it all comes down to, I fly alot, I study halftime so I got a
massive amount time to kill, and flightsims are my hobby. In three days or so, I've flown like 12 hours realtime.

I dont' regret it, I'm a bit over my budget, but I just HAD to have FsP and the 747... They weren't planned, I didn't know they existed until a week
ago or two. So I've been short on money but I don't care, I manage

I'm just happy I got a hobby that I can spend time on, I've been looking for one for a long time and started with FS9 a year ago and it's been growing
and growing to where it is today...

I'm a proud simmer ^_^

PS. I also agree with the above statement. The time/cost ratio is really really cheap compared to some other activities.


Drew, about that nosewheel not turning, I got the same issue, looks kind of funny... Looks like my mountainbike after I made on hell of a wipeout...
But at the same time, you don't see that wheel very often if you sit in the cockpit, but how can you not go to external views to look at this nice queen?

I dare not even count how much I have spent over the years. My father being an avid aircraft "fan" he loved them and bought his son (
namely me but he spent more time on it then I back then ) subLOGIC's FS1. We had a Commodore back then and dad even bought a
Apple II for it just because he had to have it. Addon back then were something that noone had heard off. I reckon that FS really took off
when the web became available to most people at affordable rates. 56k was the real breakthru, I remember Avsim being established, as
well as Flightsim. If I look at friends that play golf or have a passion for cars though... it is so safe to say that my hobby is the cheapest of
them all .... done ranting now lol

you just mentioned me there. I use to have a car that had over £15; spent on it, ive also spent quite a bit of money on golf clubs, like
£500 for a set of irons, another 100 for a driver etc (and i maybe play golf once per month for 2-3 hours. Not really value for money
