Hi

I watched a program about 6month's ago on a airport out in the middle of the sea.

Which you haft to go down along road too get to it.

I cant remember because it was such a long time ago if it had been built or was going to be built?


Can somebody please tell me the answer

Sounds like VHHH to me with the only way in by a small road or by rail. If anybody has ever flown into that airport you must agree it is quite
something and the train that takes you to the mainland is more like the cabin of an aircraft with all seats having their own tv set.

Howerver, if you'd still like to try that one of the most challenging approaches, prepare yourselves:

Download:

The only files you'll need from VHHX4v1.zip are: VHHX_ILS.bgl and VHHX_MKR.bgl. Also take AF2_VHHX.bgl from the Kai-tak AFCAD and
paste them into ....Flight Simulator9 / Addon Scenery / Scenery

Now try some approaches and go arounds in 747 following the procedures!!!

I remember seeing pictures, reading articles, and hearing pilots share their "Kai Tak Stories". Definetly one of the most
dangerous/exhilarating approaches that ever existed. Too bad it had to go.

I think I remembering seeing that engineering marvels program once (or a similar one) on the History Channel.

If I remember correctly, that one was done on Osaka Kansai. It's out far enough that they had to build up the land quite a bit because of
the depth. Can't remember when Kansai was finished, but I want to say late 90s.

This one still takes the cake though: Funchal / Madeira (- Santa Cruz) (FNC / LPMA)

Try landing at that airport(Kansai), it's scary if your not expecting it.
In 1995 I flew in from Detroit in a heavy rain and the ocean kept getting closer and closer with no land in site, then bam land right before
we hit the runway.

Another couple good ones for that are Washington Reagan (National) and La Crosse Muni. At Reagan, when you're landing north, the
approach is over the Potomac River, so you look like you're going to get wet and suddenly, there's land. La Crosse Muni is on an island
in the middle of the Mississippi River (ICAO Code KLSE). Nice long runways there though.
