Trouble with breaking on runway

When ever I land on the runway, I'm always going slow as needed, but once I touch down the breakes BARLEY work (on all airplanes,
theres no matinence needed, ive checked) and I end up off the runway into a forest STILL trying to stop, is there any way to increase the
break power? Thanks

I believe there are variables in the aircraft.cfg file that you can edit to increase braking power. Most aircraft have a somewhat realistic
maximum braking power modeled in FS (from my experience thusfar).

Just making sure: you're not by chance trying to land a jet and rely on wheel brakes only, do you?`I remember I totally forgot about speed brakes and
reverse thrust during my first 747 landing quite a while back - damn these babies can go on forever...

Lol yes nem, I was just using the breaks alone :S. I guess I shouldn't? How do I use the reverse thrust thing.

Press the F2 key and keep it pressed until the reverse engage...
don't forget to press F1 to release them before 60kts.

As I said, this only applies to jets (and many turboprops, though those may lack the speed brake and/or the reverser). Which aircraft and model where
you trying to land?

The general approach is to press F2 to get the thrust lever from forward thrust to reverse thrust. You will hear the engine sound change distinctly
and in spot view you should be able to see the reverser mechanism at the engines in action. Also you should arm the speed brake before touchdown
(check for the keyboard shortcut in your FS keyboard settings, I only know the one for a German keyboard layout), so the speed brakes are extended
when the plane touches the ground.

Furthermore if your aircraft is equipped with autobrakes the correct setting for a normal landing (no emergency, sufficient runway length) is 1 (weak
autobrake). In case of an emergency or shortfield landing adjust accordingly (use "max" if in doubt).

Also don't forget to shut off reverse thrust somewhere between 80 and 60 kts. The FSP copilot will call out both speeds for exactly this reason.

Only from about 60 kts and below start to use the manual wheel brakes. Brake to around 35-40 for a highspeed turnoff. After having left the runway and
coming to a stop either the speed brakes will be retracted automatically (PSS Airbus e.g.) or you should do it manually, retract flaps then while
you're at it.

Oh.... that brings back the memories.....

Once upon a time when I was young and unexperienced I brought a company (a good one - with tradition - so to say) to bankrupt
because I didn't disconnect the PMDG 747's autothrottle before I landed. Heck, I ididn't disconnect it even after I landed! I remember I
found it 'somewhat strange seeing the whale doesn't slow down, but the stupefaction and consternation completely filled up my brain
and there was simply no space for any other fact to appear. I only tryied the TOGA button ( *Y * ) but it didn't help.

Now that I'm old and experienced, I fly A36 again.

Hmm. Shouldn't the autothrottle flip off automatically at some point?

(Don't have the PMDG 747 yet, but for its price I'd expect that... unless of course the real thing doesn't shut off autothrottle by itself either,
which I hope it does.)

Oh it must do, the thing has a CATIIIC autoland system so would have to be able to.

You all think slowing down normally is hard? I'm sure I'm the only idiot who forgot to turn the speed hold (200knots at the time)off when
they were landing.

Nope!

Happened during my 1st failure: was coming in for landing and was extracting the flaps when they blocked. I was so busy with deciding wether to
declare an emergency or not whilst still attempting to land that, well...you know the rest!

I did it during a failure aswell, in my case the gear woulnt lock down so I was to busy trying to land hard enough to lock it. It did lock down
but to stop I had to use parking brake...that damaged my gear severly and cost me around 1.5million to fix.
