Photoshop is great for repainting and a lot quicker than something like Paint Shop Pro, however photoshop is something like $1000
USD now for the software, and Paint Shop Pro is roughly $100

I personally use PSP instead of PS. Dunno why though as I have both and more than likely because I had PSP before I bought PS.

Takes a little getting used to both but there is a wealth of how-tos on the net for both products and a little study does a wealth of good.

I'm trying "The Gimp" now. It's working about the same way as Photoshop. It seems not so powerful but hey!

IT'S FREEWARE (well... donationware) AND OPENSOURCE!!! (and read photoshop files)

If you really dont want to use payware than you need to get a program called "DXT2BMP" (use google to find it). Then you can
use MS paint to edit the files (and convert it back through DXT2BMP) if you like a challenge,but go ahead and find a free,more advanced
paint program.
