[FINAL VERSION?] New FSP utility - aircraft browser

Ok last version I think...

this one have a config file that allow you to add keyword to exclude aircraft.
You can edit this list, click on "help" and "edit ..."

Download and unzip in "bin" folder.

By default it come with this list:

Hi Dan,

Why is the Mooney showing as rank C3, i've been happly plioting my Mooney at C0, is this a change or a bug?

Love the option to exclude all those pesky Just Flight AI planes, shame it doesn't work actually in flight sim as well!!

For me it shows the Mooney as C0, don't know, why it's pointed as C3 for you, Capt. Wotan.

I can't get this to work, although I've placed the .exe. file in the FSP/bin folder exactly as it states...every time I click on the aircraft browser
icon there is a pause and then I get the 'aircraft browser has encountered a problem and needs to close' message time and time again.
Strange thing is that when I place the icon in a separate temporary folder the interface appears without a problem, but obviously then no
aircraft will show up.

It's C3 for me too. So is the Cardinal Otherwise great little prog Dan and useful nevertheless.

I have C0 for the mooney also but it might be a unit problem
mine show weight as Kilogram (as my FsP is set to use kilogram)

perhaps people that have mooney as C3 use LBS ?

did you placed both the "AircraftBrowser.exe" and "AircraftBrowser.txt" in FsPassengers/Bin
directory ?

How much aircraft do you have ?

I've placed it in the right directory, I'm sure of that. Incidentally, I did a compress of my FS9 folder the other day to see if it would help with
the sim's performance, so maybe it might have something to do with that, I don't know...? I'll try uncompressing it and see if that makes
any difference.

Maybe on the other hand it could have something to do with my aircraft folder being so big with all the AI I have installed (it totals around 8
GB)....

Hm,

mine has 13 GB and the tool works without problems (I should clean that mess up some day ;-)) and Dan, I can confirm that, I also have kg in FSP and
this tool also and all ranks working correctly. That could be the problem.

There is a limit to the number of aircraft, it's so huge that I don't test
yet: 2048 --- so do you have more than 2048 plane ?

Also the aircraft name may cause crash if they are more than 255 characters...

I don't think it's the compression things....

I'll see that tomorrow... if you don't hear from me send me a mail recalling the problem
I'll send you a new version with some corrections.

I haven't compressed my FS directory, but flight sim is using the American settings i.e. LBS etc... Other than that it's a standard
installation into FSPassengers\bin directory. I only have the standard planes that came with flight sim, oh and a B52. Within
FSPassengers i currently only own 1 plane, a mooney...

Just checked with LBS my mooney bravo weight 2189lbs and is still C0
can you check ? if it's not the same weight can you post the aircraft. cfg or
at least see the line: empty_weight (= 2189 // (pounds))

As far as I remember there is an entry in the .AIR that is used by FS to let the aircraft show up in the pick list or not.
Wouldn't it be better to check for AI planes this way instead of searching some names that can change every day?

it would but the utility would take forewer (4-10 seconds) to grab all the data because it must open each .air file,
seek the correct location, take data, close file etc etc. This would require also one more day work.
I preffer focus on FsP update instead of making the super cool utility (that give you only some numbers)
It's the reason why I didn't make an option to save the list to a file...
