A good discussion is welcomed but let's not attack eachother shall we. We are here for a job, weather it is saving lives by handling a gun

I would dare to bet a dollar and a doughnut (my dad's old saying) that it's the AIRPORT baggage handling systems that are responsible for lost/damaged bags. Those systems are so unmanned and automated that I would think if a bag falls off a belt it'll get damaged and then probably be put back on in the wrong location; or if a bag gets misread then it could get diverted down the wrong system where it gets lost or mishandled by the WRONG airline before behind handled by the proper airline.
In the six months I worked at LAX I only dropped 3 (three) bags; two of them were because the person loading at the bottom put them on wrong, the bag got caught in between the rollers and something else, and got pulled off the edge before I could get to it. The other one was the bag of a co-worker, who is still a close friend, who was on his way to CLT for training; he got back at me on the arrival flight back a week later and it was funnier than h-e-double hockey sticks!!
NOTE: I quit because I was working six days a week driving an hour each way to work and getting stuck working between 3:00AM and 6:00PM PST.

That's a good point, baggage handling systems muck up my bags alot. specially the zipper pulls... what's up with the zipper pulls always
getting yanked off.

Anybody have any info on KDEN's baggage handling system? I had heard that when they built the airport it had a "state of the art"
baggage handling system that ended up having to be competely scrapped but I don't have any details at all.

i had a box of cookies once that came back as crumms. but i still ate them.

throue my life ive learned to just go with the flow, **** happens just deal with it. getting mad dosent help.

True. But I don't think I would say the baggage handlers "save" lives, but they have a massive role in preventing death. Some years ago
we had a 747 take off from SFO improperly loaded and it was 100 feet away from smacking into the side of San Bruno mountain.
