[OT] Quick questions about ASV

Alright, thanks for clearing that up. I'm going to get this issue with FSUIPC figured out/fixed (hopefully), then I'll be
purchasing it!

One last thing: I think it was mentioned above, but I may have mis-interpreted it. There are real-time
downloadable winds aloft, right? Say I'm flying from KSLC-KMDW. Of course the winds at 390 are going to shift
around quite a bit. Is this modelled? Are there smooth transitions? What if I'd like to use real-world winds aloft
with a global "surface weather" setting (meaning surface winds/clouds/temps). Does this work?

Yes, yes and yes. Winds are downloaded aloft, do shift (quite a lot sometimes) and there IS a setting to make this smooth (to prevent speed jumps and
such).

But, I do not know if you can download ONLY winds...

Found a possible fix for FSUIPC and the dead battery issue. Anyone else having this issue (I think I'm alone, but who know's?) could

I'm just about to give it a try. I'm going to use the latest FSUIPC version, unregistered. Let's hope it works!

Brad, learn to fly the 737 before you use it? This way you wont have the dead battery issue. I am sick and tired of seeing nube pilots try
and fly a complex aircraft like the PMDG. Stick with the default Cessna 152 or something.


All jokes aside now, I had the same problem as you. Are you running the 736/7 or the 738/9? Or both? Do you have updates? For the
800/900, there is a Service Update 1 that fixed the problem for me. Here is a list of fixes:

1) Eliminates a data corruption problem that was responsible for Unplanned engine flameouts
2) Eliminates a data corruption problem that was responsible for Unexplainable electrical losses (lights/radios/etc)
3) Eliminates a code problem that would cause the battery to die, thus triggering electrical problems.
4) Eliminates a code problem that would cause the generators to become unresponsive to the switches.
5) Eliminates a code problem that would cause certain types of asynchronous behavior in the lighting system.
6) Enhanced behavior for holding pattern entry.
7) Enhanced behavior for holding pattern exit.
8) Algorithmic track calculation for wind correction angle in holds. (Airplane "learns" during holding.)
9) Corrected errors in Cost Index Model
10) Corrected Generator Disconnect Switch behavior.
11) Updated behavior of electrical bus switching/protection logic.
12) Updated generator logic and battery behavior
13) Updated fuel system behavior to eliminate potential problems with fuel imbalance
14) CDU Action keys included in keyboard commands
15) Eliminated SPD REF selection CTD problem
16) LOC Back Course tracking fixed
17) Eliminated bug that causes CTD during aircraft changes.

Also, are you setting the DC and AC knobs correctly? I am sure you are but sometimes, with it not being in front of you like real life, things
are a little differant.

a 4-yr degree with a major in aviation flight science and a double major in aviation business managment. Plans are to go officer route in
the US Navy (close to the USMC) and become a pilot, hopefully strike fighter as yourself. I am trying to get as much advice and help as I

You civies really got twisted views on some things. Anyway....

As I've mentioned in the past, the PMDG aircraft is extremely realistic. I believe I'm setting the knobs correctly to view different electrical
settings. It's not like I fly the aircraft for a living or anything (Sarcastic)!!!

I finally added a string to my FSUIPC.ini file that says "MAGICBATTERY=1". It works for me, and no more dead batteries (see my above
posts).

I didn't need to download any of the service updates. I ended up getting the PMDG too late in the game to even have the patches be
applicable (they're already added).

referencing ground speed, there is no "good" or "bad" groundspeed. Groundspeeed varies, and isn't our primary indicator for speed (IAS
and Mach are more frequently used).

I'd go into more depth about being a pilot, however if you search the forums you'll find some information. Currently, I'm getting ready for
what for me is an early morning flight (10 AM), so I've got to get going.

Please, by all means do not take that as in insult. I know that they are 2 differant branches with way differant in and outs and what I meant
was the F/A-18's are flown by both branches, and from what I have heard from my USMC good friend, is that the requirements to be a
strike fighter pilot (height, weight, eyes, arm length, leg length, health condition, etc) are very close to the same as the Navys. Thats where
I was going. Plus I was also advised that when you go to OCS, that you have the option of going USMC or US Navy, is that correct?
