FS9 OR FSX

FS9 is a much better sim for present time but as all of us experienced simmers know time will eat up FS9 just as it will with FSX. I waited almost a
year after FS9 was released till I upgraded along with a new computer. I had such a good setup with FS2002 I didn't want to upgrade but I knew FS9 had
potential, Just as FSX will too. I did go out and buy FSX but at my point in time I am sticking with FS9 probly till next year sometime. You also
better believe I won't switch untill fspassengers is upgraded to FSX as well !

I was skeptical at first with poor framerates in the 5- 10 range, until I read the many articles posted on http://www.flightsim.com and other sites,
downloaded their .xml patches, followed their config advice and bam! pegged at my pre-set 22fps limit all the time. It's beautiful! Do I
still play FS2004? Yes, for fspassengers flights I do. But as soon as fspassengers is made ready for FSX, I am removing fs2004 from
my system.

This SINGLE biggest framerate gain was from setting Autogen Density: None on the Scenery Tab. After that I cranked
everything else back up. Some day I will upgrade to a pair of PCIe graphics cards and a faster processor and will turn it back on, but I
dont miss it.
I am using an AMD 64 bit 2.8ghz w/2gb memory and a ATI X800 AGP graphics card.

Snake is right tho, as time goes on, the growing addons and tools for FSX will make FS2004 a memory.

I Prefer fs9 because it take my laptop 15mins to load the simulator,and it freezes mid flight.

I have fsx deluxe, i must say the more you use it the better it gets, it even gives you the option to be atc in multi player, i dont think i'll go
back to fs9. The bigger problem will be pc compatibility.

NO DOUBT! FSX!

I cannot believe people actually plan to keep using their FS 2004 over the all new FSX.
FSX is so much better in so many ways!

First of all the fantastic graphics and level of detail. Absolutely no comparisson to FS 2004, FSX is so much more detailed and much
better looking, that alone justifies buying it.. Not to mention the more sophisticated autogen engine and the beautiful animations that add
so much more life to the program.

You can see wildlife, i.e. I saw a Bear when delivering mail to an Alaskan remote outpost.

Then you got all the nice missions which add countless hours of enjoyment, and in a way they replace FSP meanwhile its not published.

The only downside, you need an extremely powerful PC. Even my PC (see below for details ) has problems on the Ultra High level, I have
to make some adjustments. And even then I have framerates of only 5-8 in mega dense surroundings like San Francisco Ground or
Tokyo Ground. On the other hand, flying in a not so densly populated area I do get frame rates from up to 30 fps.

If you have a Pentium with say 2 Ghz and a Radeon X800 Pro 256mb - forget about it! Yes, you can play it on minimum but thats about it.
So anyone who recommends you to stick with FS 2004 doesnt know what they are talking about!

A LOT BETTER? Moron, its not better in ANY way! FSX is better in every aspect. Of couse if you have a no-name PC with benchmarks

No it doesnt and I guess you havent even tried FSX. And FSX does NOT need any add-ons cause its looks great already.
So you spent like hundreds and hundreds of dollars or Euros to get what is already included in FSX:
Not to mention future add-ons which will outperform ANY FS 2004 add-on.

In 6 month, noone will even remember FS9, not to mention playing it.
Its old software with no future, and think about Vista! Anyways, you go play your FS9 if you so wish. I enjoy the real world in FSX.

Yes, thats radar contact, sorry, FSX atc is just as good isnt it FSP, didnt know that was included in the FSX package Dan wont be happy, the
list goes on.

We shall see, how about looking to see what rank FsP is in the simmarket charts in 6 months, if noone is playing fs9, it wont be in the charts at all?

DOH! I was refering to "Scenery" add-ons, not tools or ingame-games!

And if the author of FSP says he will update at least once a week then he should do so anything else is very unprofessional!
