The flaps penalty should be disabled in my view. I hope it is changed in the next version. The concept of a steep penalty for missing an essential
setting is fine, but the flap setting required for take off varies from aircraft to aircraft . The Cessna 172 and Bonanza 36 POHs indicate no flaps
on take off unless short or soft fields; others require flaps (Beech B200 for example) and wont get off the rwy without them. Many checklists simply
say "as appropriate" depending on weight, circumstances etc. Thus the flap penalty like a couple of others, should have been designed to be set in
an aircraft specific way. I don't fly airliners, so it is possible the procedures are more standardized with these. But among light singles, twins,
and turboprops, you have to check the POH. Just my 2 cents
