Chris is correct, its your relevent position to the centre of the airport when you end the flight.

here for example is PANC airport via fsnav





as you can see from the airport centre labels, there is not actually alot of gates/parking spots you can park at at PANC before you are
actually parking closer to LHD. There is only really the little block around the PANC centre, you can park. If you tried parking down towards
the end of the runway (right of pic) you will be closer to the centre of LHD

hope that explains it.
