Do you guys know that when the 727 was introduced the use of the full flaps settings was prohibited as pilots were landing WAY to hard
with itI don't know if any payware has ever been able to reproduce the high-lift flaps design of the original.
Another story about the 727 wing: An early Lufthansa 727 was "closely inspected" by night on ramp by some british
engineers - namely
from Hawker.... - at the shine of some flashlights, not knowing the cockpit crew was sitting in the dimmed flightdeck. The photograph
taken by the captain is still hanging in the LH training center in Bremen. If you want to see some really stupid faces just go there
Didn't know the history of this...glad you shared it. The CS 727 is more stable on the approach with full flaps at 120 knots. However, if you
add 5 knots or more of airspeed, the darn aircraft will float like crazy. Prior to tweaking the flap values, the aircraft would not maintain a
stable approach at any flap setting.
