So as some of you may remember, I was having crashing issues with my PC. As it was a Shuttle XPC and I was running an ATI 9700Pro, I chalked it up to
overheating, although onboard sensors told me different. Regardless, I built a new PC.
My current PC is this:
AMD Athlon64 3200+
1 gig OCZ DDR400 with the heatspreader thingy
200 gig Maxtor 7200rpm SATA HD
Asus A8N SLI motherboard
Powercolor x800 GT 256 meg video card
case/fans/powersupply/etc...
Now this is a major stepup from my older pc. Everything seems to be running great, except that I can't seem to get more than 20 FPS in FS2004 no
matter what I do. ATI has idiot sliders that allow you to change between performance or quality, there's about 5 settings. No matter what combination
of those and med/high/ultra/custom settings I pick, the FPS is totally dodgey. Hell, when I lower the settings it gets somewhat worse!
So I've come here seeking wisdom from some sort of tweaking witch doctor to help with my ailment. Mostly the FPS's hop between 15 and 25 erratically.
I do have the traffic turned up, FSP installed, and have some Florida scenery installed, but that's about it really. Oh, and I'm also using TrackIR
pro 3. Which is another irritatant. When I move left to right and I look out the side window, the terrain textures are all blanked out, and then fill
in. Even if I had just looked at the same ones like 15 seconds earlier.
So if you know any sort of magic bullet, or some arcane switch that needs to be thrown, it would be highly appreciated.
Sorry for the rambing, but well, that's me.
thanks for any help!
