Engine failure

Hi guys,

I got a question (it may be kind of dumm).
I didn't find any answers in the forum so please don't blame me if this has been discussed 25 times already ;-)

Every time I that I have an engine failure I get in big trouble (737)

So what I did is get on the glidepath and set flaps to 15 instead of 30. The problem is that the plane starts to spin. By rolling to the opposite side
I have to open throttle to avoid loosing height. So what happens is, that it spinns harder and finally crashes backwards. What I don't undstand: If I
should be able to start with 1 engine after V2 why can't I land it?

What am I doing wrong?

Try using the rudder.

yea, you will need to use rudder to counteract the force that the one engine puts out against nothing coming out the other side.

I tried that already. That only causes more loose of altitude.
I guess it's just a problem in FS2004. I got several problems with the 737. For example the rudder doesn't work if I'm close to ground.....

That is the secondary effect you will see with rudder. If you fly cross controls, ie rudder to the right and aileron to the left you will loose height
very very rapidly. It's called a slip and we use it often in real world general aviation to loose excess height on approach without gaining airspeed.

When you loose one motor, trim out the yaw with rudder trim or push the rudder until the ball is centered again, in the 737 the ball is a little flat
white box under the arrow showing your bank angle on the ND. You will need some extra height if you are close to MTOW, if not she should maintain
altitude nicely! Also remember that as you increase thrust on the good engine the yaw will become worse which will need more rudder or as you decrease
thrust you will need less rudder to keep the ball centered!

Hi! I got PPL (single engine) so I have the basic flying skills.
I already tried what you just explained.
The only problem I had was that the rudder wouldn't straighten it out. I'll try it again with a 777. If I don't have the problem with that type I
guess I just have a general 737 problem (If I approach with strong crosswinds I can't turn in to touch down straight on the runway in the last
seconds. The rudder seems to be disabled if I come close to ground.

Maybe autorudder is enabled? I don't know if it could have influence, but maybe...
