I viewed activesky as just a big texture set. So what if it adds a couple extra features? I can justify $40 with what I've seen yet.
Will price go down?

First and foremost it's a weather engine. The texture replacements were just added in the latest release.
And if the screenshots and videos on their site can't convince you, well - to each their own. ![]()

I think this price is very fair

My opinion ... not that it counts for much ....
1) Dan is the developer of the software, and based on the time, effort and whatever his feelings on a given day are, he, and he alone has the right to charge what he wants for the program. 2) We are the consumer, we, and we alone (on an individual basis of course) have the right to evaluate the software and make the decision to buy or not to buy. And in those two statements there is a whole lot of middle ground ... somewhere in there Dan will choose a price that while it will not satisfy everybody, it will maximize the revenue potential to himself and his company. Choose a price too high, and nobody will buy, Dan will not maximize his opportunity. Choose a price too low, and everybody will buy, but Dan still won't maximize his opportunity. My personal feeling, compared to way too many addons that I have purchased over the years, this product is more than worth the money I payed for it. I have bought sceneries for way too many airports that I have only flown into once or twice, I have bought payware aircraft that I can only get about 1000 feet off of the ground, yet would not fly every flight anyway, and I have bought a whole mess of other addons that I couldn't even name now. This addon however goes with me on every flight, introduces elements such as realistic failures, passengers, payload models, penalties for incorrect use of SOP's etc that no one software I have ever purchased does. Worth every penny I paid for it, and if Dan asked for a donation tomorrow to further help his cause, I would be one of the first in line!

Of course this was not the reason to set the price. It's just to explain that i'm not sure at all that you get really a lot more selling with low price. (less than the "logic" curve immo) Dan

I think the price is fine how it is, and as I added previously, even up to $50 USD would be acceptable.

Now I'm just waiting for the Computer Pilot review.

Howdy, here's just my mention.
I think that the Dan's price is fair and honest. I remember back in the years '93 and '94 when going to Best Buy. I was 17 years old at that time and came to my folks for help with purchasing games for the 386 computer we had (I didn't have a job and only got allowance). The price for a new game was around $40 and that seemed about right. $40 today with the factor of inflation of 12 years means that FSP is actually more affordable than back then. I look at TV's in Best Buy, you know the High Definition screens and MAN! These things are going for $3,000 easy! People are also driving Hummers, got Cell phones, Dish satellite television, while I keep asking myself "Where do they make all that money?" Seems that it's all on the credit card... ah ha!!! That's why there's all those debt consolidation commercials on the TV and ads for payday loan offices. I find it discouraging for people to bark at Dan for the price. I am one person that is sick of the effect Wal-Mart has made on people. It's always the decision that "Wal-Mart's got the best prices" or "you should have gone to Wal-Mart for the better price, fool". We've got the Mom & Pop's closing down all the time and the pricewhore is to blame. Sorry to rant but I'm just a modest hippy-type with long hair (literally) and love to fly planes. Anyway.... great product Dan and this forum is the greatest!!! Chris B. in Iowa
