are there any users that use both activesky (2004.5) and FsP?
I was, untill i had two unpleasant incidents.
Both happened about halfway my flight, at FL350. The aircraft suddenly dropped 3000feet down, which of course upset my passengers.
I'm wondering if I can disable this sort of turbulence, or if there is a way to still have it together with FsP, without affecting my passengers
fear. if not, i'll just stop using activesky, however it's great addon (but FsP is better:-))

Been using ASV and FSP with no problems at all. What plane were you flying?

Not sure if this was implemented in AS 2004 but in ASV there is a VAS option. You might check the options panel and disable the VAS, it should not
happen anymore then. In ASVe (enhanced, the latest version) you can set the frequency and intensity of VAS points being generated.

I never had a drop that far, neither in FS nor in real life (fortunately), but I've heard it happens in real life, however very rare. In FS I had drops
of about 1000 ft, even without ActiveSky, caused by sudden pressure changes probably due to incomplete or just bad metar data. So, if it
happens, I think it's normal your passenger's fear level shoots up. It would certainly do so in reality.
However, if you have a registered FSUIPC you can smooth the pressure changes just like the wind shifts. This should stop the heavy drops.

AS4.5 never caused that for me, usually a sudden drop from cruising altitude is due to dodgy flight mechanics from the airplane.

i've been flying that plane for over 40 flights and it never happened to me, untill i started using activesky
it then happened twice in a 3 day span

This is usually associated with the Vertical Air Simulation (VAS) as somebody said before. You should disable that option in the ASV
options if you are having problems. I have been using ASV and the updated ASVe with no issues.

ASVe here...no problems whatsoever...just remember...if you're in a small aircraft...STAY AWAY FROM THE BIGGIES!!! Got killed by taking off after a
jumbo when I was in a Mooney Hunappy

never happened to me, maybe you need to smooth your weather changes out in FSUIPC cuz I had mine set for 5s and it does smooth everything out without
any sudden surprises.
