FMC Problem Please Help

Hello,
Let's say for example I'm flying from KSEA to KSFO. The route I take is SEA-LMT-RBL-OAK. When I am nearing the OAK VOR I hit problems. I talk to San
Francisco atc and get landing clearance for usually runway 31R or 31L. But they are a few nm away from the OAK VOR. I have to manually fly to the
STAR and then hope I get the right altitude to get the APP to work. My question is how do I get it so I go directly to the STAR so the whole route
connects and doesnt get any route disconnect?
Sorry I did such a bad job explaining the problem I'm not very good with explaining things.

well if youre using atc that will happen. especially default. however if your route disconnect. just click on the next waypoint or direct
waypoint to the rwy youre cleared for then put where the blank space is then hit execute. that will reconnect you to the airport.

That's why I don't use ATC anymore (default is absolute crap, I'm hoping to get RC4 eventually, and I don't have time for VATSIM).
