I don't know about the download versions, if you bought the CD boxed version, well, of course it works without the 600/700. And if you say
it works fine, don't think about spending money unless you want to fly the 600/700. I currently own the 600/700, think about buying the
800/900 as in my version there isn't even a TCAS implemented.

If you do the download you MUST purchase the 600/700 FIRST then you can purchase and install the 800/900 ADD-ON

The Download 800/900 Does require the 600/700 [Download].

i have the boxed version of both. they work independantly of each other and were seperate purchases. hope this clears it up some... atl
least from the boxed version point of view.
