im thinking its time for some pretty sky, nice red skys at sunset etc

BUT, i dont want to hurt fps if possible (obviously will a little)

the payware plane im using (citation) is knocking my fps down a little, so dont want it dropping down much more (getting between 35-45
now, locked at 45)

only thing is, if i turn up the default water effects, if i fly over sea in spot view, my fps drops below 10 so if i get some good sky
addon, am i going to suffer the same?


if not, recommend me something, wouldnt mind something with a demo if possible???

usually 3d clouds will get your fps down, just a colorful sky won't do much harm. If you don't mind about payware then Flight Environment and Active
Sky are the best around

Hmmm, sober now, FE and ASV are not exactly the same, FE is clouds, sky and water textures replacements. ASV is only clouds and sky text repl. but
also contains a weather generator and can download real world weather.

on the FE one it says i have to turn my water up full, i will have to try this with standard sky/water, but im sure that is going to kill my fps

Yes, I have both, you can use ASV together with FE but then one feature of ASV you cannot use and that's to let ASV automatically decide which clouds
fits best with a certain weather condition and i love that feature So now i use FE for the water and ASV for the rest

Furthermore, both come with an option to use DXT clouds or low resolution clouds (still beautiful btw) which will help your fps also

i take it u will only get skys like that at sunrise and sunset, and at all other times, just cloud textures?
