How to get rid of runway- and taxiway bumps to avoid penalization when rolling o

I am not sure which forum to post this…..

Sometimes the aircraft jumps a little due to bumps on the ground. This may also happen at default airports. A strange thing is that a
bump often only has effect one direction – i.e. only RW 13, but not the other way at RW 31….???

Well, the thing is that FsP penalizes you for this. It’s not my fault and not FsP that these invisible bumps are present here and there.

So, when discovering these bumps, does anybody know how to get rid of them ????

I think the "bumps" have more to do with the aircraft contact points not being set properly.

You can edit the contact points in the "aircraft.cfg" file. I haven't done this for quite a while, so my memory of it is a little rusty. I do know if
you open the aircraft.cfg file of one of the Micorsoft default planes (like the C172), there are good comments showing what each of the contact points
entries are. You'll need to do some experimenting with this before you can get it right.

I didn't think about ithat. I have experimented a lot with the contact point part in the cfg. earlier - couple of years ago- You're
maybe right about this, so I give it a try. First of all I will try some other aircrafts at those spots to see if there are some differences.

If there are, the problem surely has to be connected to some settings in the "contact points".

I'll come back to this after my research.

Even default aeroplanes make jumps at the very same spots. But one add-on plane did only a minor jump and by some speeds not at
all.
So I decided to give adjustments of the contact point part of the cfg. I only adjusted the three variables:

Static Compression (feet) (0 if rigid)
Max/Static Compression Ratio
Damping Ratio (0=Undamped, 1=Critically Damped)

It was possible to damp the jumping, but aparently it does not solve the basic problem. These kind of jumps only ocurs at some airports,
so maybe then, it is some weird combination of scenery bgl,s and aircraft cfg and air-file that makes it. ????

Sometimes we can even see AI-planes making such jumps.

I wonder what causes it and what could be done to solve it...

OK, maybe it is terrain then. I've had planes jump a little too, but never enough to get a penalty in FSP. One other contact point adjustment you
might try would be just make the gear a little taller or shorter?

Thanks again. This was time consuming but interesting as I never have looked so detailed into those variables before.
Trying out a lot of combinations with the 3 variables I mentioned and in addition the "Vertical Position" ( I assume that is what you
meant), finally got me to a combination that improved the plane's ground performance a lot and I probably have managed to damp the
jumping enough to avoid penalties that FsP otherwise had been teasing me with.

BUT, stiiilllll, the bumps are there……

I have tried flatten switches, and excludes set with different priorities in the scenery cfg., but there must be something else that causes
these bumps. I can’t see how mesh-files can interfere with this issue, but at the other hand I am just another mortal novice.

One thing is for sure, however, something causes this damned bumps………
