Actually, I find the landings harder in FS because you don't have other visual references. What I usually do it open up a secondary window with a spot
plane behind me so that I can see the ground move up in the flare. General flying is a lot easier in Flight Sim. But that's my opinion and others with more experience or using more sofisticated aircraft in Fs2004 might disagree.

thanks for the answer, the reason why i asked is if landing is this hard in real life i dont think it will be 100% safe to fly(close to 100%). any
one else with their thoughts..?

What do you mean? That it's not safe to fly or that you would not be safe flying in real life?
The answer to both question is: Yes, it's safe. If you've never flown in real life before, don't expect to land the aircraft until your 4th or 5th lesson. You need to learn to turn, climb, and generaly fly before you can land somewhat safely. Like everything else, it's a skill that you learn to master. Now, back to Fs2004. No, it's not like in real life. It is, however a darn good procedural trainer for IFR flight (if you don't fly with the AP) and it's fairly accurate for GA aircraft. Phil

Landing is a LOT harder in FS9 than in real life. You dont get the seat of your pants feel and as was stated the visual clues are truly awful.
I have done hundreds of landings in real life without incident. I cant say the same about my sim flying

I also find it a lot harder to trim the airplane properly, especially for the short final and landing. I use a CH Flight yoke, yet I still have to
pay a lot closer attention to how much I pull the yoke back, it is very easy to pull back to much and "balloon" the landing - (lack of real feedback, - "seat of the pants"). The smaller planes are the worse. I feel the small turbo-props are closer to resembling a real life Cessna 172 than the small FS9 single engine planes. ![]()

I find both a little tricky to master but overall Fs is much harder primarily bocause the basic cockpit view sucks. I usually go Vc with 0.75
zoom-looks most realistic in my eyes.

much harder on FS. Like everyone said, you dont get the feel of whats actualy going on. I have such a hard time landing on center line in
the FS world, but in real life, Id say 95% of them are on the center line(unless in strong crosswind or shear conditions LOL).

I concur... FS much more difficult. In real-life you have the multiple references as mentioned above, plus you've got A LOT more
pressure. I've got 142 people (for those of you that will say SWA only carries 137, you're right... we have 3 FA's, and 2 pilots though... just to discourage any scrutiny... lol) on that plane, and I have to get them on the ground safetly.

I also say that landing is harder in FS because you can't "feel" and "hear" your airplane like you can in real-life. Sometimes you won't
even know something is wrong with your plane in FS because of this. |
