Callsign

Has anyone else had a callsign problem?

For example, I created one with Northwest Airlines and put in the proper IATA code when I registered it.

When I went to fly with is, my ATC callsign was "McDonnel Douglas November Whiskey........"

If FS ATC does not have NorthWest Airlines recorded as a sound file, they won't say the name.

do to copyrights there are many many airlines recorded in FS2004 that are not listed in the airlines.cfg file. You'll have to open your
airlines.cfg file with notepad and enter Northwest. not Northwest Airlines. Then save.

When you select the plane and change the call sign you'll be able to give it the ATC callsign "Northwest" Make sure in FSpassenger you
have the option checked "use FS2004 ATC callsign" So ATC will still use Northwest.

I can post a link to a airlines.cfg file that containe like 100's of real world airlines, but I don't know about posting links in this forum.

Let's try this again...

If after I have FS Passengers started, I reload the aircraft, then I get the proper callsign...if I don't reload it, I do not. All I get is the
Phonetics of the IATA code.

Hi!
Go to: FsPassengers Setup -> General Setup and change ATC callsign to "Use FS2004 ATC callsign". That will fix your
problem. However, doing like this your flight will not get the new flightnumber generated by FsP. Instead you will have the flightnumber
entered in your Aircraft.cfg.

Okay, that will work....

Back to the original question. Is FS Pax supposed to relay the IATA code back into FS9 so that it matches? For example NW041 will be
read by default ATC as Northwest 4-1 or UA231 will be read by default ATC as United 2-3-1?

In other words, does it work for everyone else?

FS would not look at the IATA or ICAO code given to FSP (by the way controllers see ICAO codes on their scopes, while airlines track themselvs using
IATA). If the callsign is properly written in the aircaft.cfg and you use hte fore mentioned settings options, FS will read 'Northwest'. Some airlines
are however, NOT recorded into FS. In FS2002, 'Southwest' was not recorded (don't ask me why), and many useres used a program called "voiceEditPack"
or something of the sort, found on AVSIM and Flightsim.
Example:
Using the defualt world travel company, use the WorldTravel defualt 737 with the 'use FS2004 callsign' options enabled, and your will be "WorldTravel
XXX" un check it, you will be "Whiskey Tango XXX"

I will take a look at those settings. I suspect that's where the issue is.
