Old news....
News made it seem worse than it was... its SOP for two pilots...
22-11-2008, 05:06 AM
Not that old...
And it was certainly standard procedures for the captain, but not for the copilot! ![]() Anyway, the complete report is here: http://www.aaiu.ie/upload/general/11139-0.pdf

I finally got around to reading this report. Haven't heard of this story before this thread. Kudos to the Captain for keeping his wits about
him, but I'm sure the pucker factor went off the scale8)

Wow, thats amazing and interesting. I wonder why the co-pilot went berzerk?

Pilots like many careers can be under mass amounts of pressure...
Aswell as their home lives... All thrown together can potentially build up... and BANG... there it is

The report does not list the medical condition of the FO but, based on him requiring 11 days in the hospital at Shannon before being transported back
to Canada via Air Ambulance "where his care continued" leads me to believe the FO suffered a debilitating sickness. Lethargic seems to be one of the symptoms as the FO took augmented crew rest on the flight deck. Memory issues can also be assumed based on failure to abide by correct flight deck entry procedures as noted by the Captain.
