fspax upgrade

How does one upgrade to the p3d fspax. I bought the fsx version 10yrs ago and wanting to implement the p3d version with other software and tried to update it with the p3d installer but it doesnt accept the serial code. I cant install the fsx version as I no longer use fsx. Shouldnt it be able to upgrade to p3d using the same serial code on the p3d installer? So the question is how does one upgrade the fsx version to p3d.

 You have to buy it again from fsx to p3d? No thanx. I paid over $60 at the time. There is no way I will be paying for a convert to which is basically the same sim. Looks like I will be putting it in the recycle bin. I got Air Hauler 2 for less than this and it has way more to offer.
