PPL Skills Test

Oh the life of a UK GA Pilot. I've been waiting 3 weeks to take my skills test but the UK is playing it's usual tricks of having completely !=*t weather.

For any of you interested I'm flying FENLAND (EGCL) to FENLAND via Loddon (Near Great Yarmouth) to Clacton with a diversion somewhere along the second
leg. No radio naviagtion aloud on the 1st leg, just a map and dead reckoning. Unfortunately some controlled airspace to play with and MATZ penetration.

Anyone here a PPL holder? Would like to know how your tests went.

I'm starting to get my PPL hours in a few weeks, am 14 atm so gotta wait like 1,2 years (is it) to actully do it, though i can get my hours since am 14

Aye, iin the UK, you can take your PPL when you're 16 now. Though in some cases there is a way to get more hours - join the ATC/CCF RAF and do the GIC
and GS courses in the Grob Vigilant; back when I took them I was informed that the hours I'd done in the Vigiland and the Tutor as an Air Cadet could
count towards hours in my PPL but that would differ from school to school.

Of course, I did my GS five years ago now, and the GICs seven years ago so things have probably changed.

14 is quite young and my instructor said they take people on that young but before you know it you'll be ready for solo, which you have to be 16 and
then 17 to hold a license. I would take whiskey-zulu's advice and join cadets.

Currently,
I have 3 options:
- Get a PPL via a private flight school
- Do it in uni
- Join my local flight cadets

Joining a UAS would be another way of putting hours in/ getting a set of wings, but they've recently had their hours cut no matter what they say
during Freshers' Fairs.

Flying solo soon in the Vigilant (gliding scholarship) and boy deos it work up to get your PPL.

Good ol' joys of getting a PPL.. but as luck would have it I dont have mine

50+ hours, soloed when I was 17 on june 5th, 2006... and I have not flown in about 2 years now.
College life + work leaves no time to fly...

built up most of my time taking x-country trips around michigan.

Hope you do go flying again Crowebird and maybe nextime you might have your PPL.
But after all thats life, but always is hard to find the time to go flying.
