Performance mini report (FS2004)

Dear all,

Recently I finally bought a new computer to run FS2004 and FSX later on:
- Intel E6600 (2x 2,4 Ghz)
- 2 GB RAM
- XFX Geforce 8800 GTS 320 MB
- OS: Windows XP Professional SP2

FS2004 runs very well but I noticed when using FSPassengers my frame rates drop when enabling the mini report. For example:
- Frame rates set to unlimited vary from 50 - 70
- After displaying mini report frame rates are 30 - 35

On my laptop I did not notice this issue, frame rates were locked to 20.

Is this a known issue? Does it has to do with my specific configuration?

Try to change the frame rate slider from Unlimited to 26. From my understanding you don´t really need more than that?

Yes, I understand and at this time it is set fixed to 30. But I am interested in the fact that the mini report 'eats' about 20 FPS! Even a
payware panel does not do that!

have you updated your graphic card drivers ?

Hi Dennis, I am using the official Nvidia Forceware 158.22 drivers for my GeForce 8000 GTS. I do not think this would cause the troubles?

Try to see if you got the newest update:
I use the danish version but this is the best translation I can right now
Press Start -> right click on "This Computer" click on Properties -> Hardware -> Device Manager -> Graphic Card or Screencard (or what
it's called) -> right click on your card and click on "update driver".
See if it finds any new updates.

I do not think this would cause the troubles?

Sometimes it help if there are any updates. It helped me

I have the same problem and until now no solution for it.

Try different AA settings on your card also, with certain values, fs9 can act weird when a screen is drawn over it (like the mini report). I have the
same issue when I set AA to 8x or 2x but when at 4x I don't see much of a framerate drop (maybe 1 or 2 fps difference)

Davie, Dutch64, thanks for your replies. I will play around with the AA settings and report my results later. I have disabled AA in FS9 and
enabled it on my card, currently set to 4x.

Well, tested several configurations last night but I did not manage to increase the FPS by playing around with the AA settings and driver
update. Any other clues or official statement about this issue?

Hmmm, funny you should say that because i used to get 23FPSwhen locked at 25FPS high in a clear sky wiith FSP. That was with
my old X800 though.

I can't see how you canloose that much of a proformance? Half?

This was on a custom airport with all settings maxed out. In the air I get appr. 120 FPS. But the strange this is that performance drops
rapidly when displaying the mini report. I do still have enough FPS to fly :D, but I was wondering if this is a known issue.
