They happen every day but some airlines are of greater interest to the media, I'd say...

Not really a lot of plane crashes lately. There are about 5 GA crashes in the US each day. About 10 or so incidences (Incidences like "Guy
cleaning plane falls and breaks his ankle") a day that end up on NTSB. Really, the only reason it would seem like there are more crashes than usual is thanks to the media covering every Train and Plane crash that occurs with non-stop covering and bold, red text. No more then usual. Heh, back in the early 1910's you had a one in three chance of being in a plane crash. Now that chance is somewhere in the millions or billions - but is downtrodded by media hype. Just imagine how fearfull people would become of cars if the media covered every car wreck with daily attention. ~1,200,000 die a year in car crashes compared to ~700 a year in airplanes. Yeah..
